#BnS108 - Settlement for Simanity

“Please, come in,” you say, gesturing for your two guests to sit.

A well-dressed woman hands you a business card which says ‘Settlement for Simanity’, and identifies herself as a Ms. Abby Jung. You know the organization but have never worked directly with them.

She is accompanied by a gentleman with the kind of impressive beard and friendly face usually reserved for Santas. He is dressed more… not casually, exactly, but you can tell he’s much more of a hands-on type, with a firm, calloused grip. He introduces himself as simply Tepeu.

“Thank you for seeing us without an appointment,” she says.

“Not at all,” you say. “How can I be of help to your organization?”

“Well, that’s an interesting question,” Tepeu says. “We are looking to create very small homes which can be cheaply and quickly erected, but still be functional for places where whole communities are in need.”

“War zones, natural disaster areas, displaced populations, that kind of thing,” Ms. Jung says. “These won’t be our idea of a house with so many rooms and possessions and furnishings.”

“No,” the Tepeu agrees. “These will be places for sleeping, food prep, and storage mainly. The important aspect is that the family will be in a good, solid structure which can provide safety. A door which locks. We take such security for granted but it is lacking in many areas of the world.”

You nod, remembering some of your own clients who so desperately needed a home after some kind of disaster or another. “I would be happy to be involved in any way I can.”

Tepeu breaks into wide grin.

“We have few requirements, mostly we are hoping you will be able to connect the dots for the actual design of the building,” says Ms. Jung as she hands over several briefs.

“The need is so wide-spread,” Tepeu says. “There are many climates and cultures which Settlement for Simanity will build for, so we are hoping we can get a variety of designs, while meeting the basic needs.”

“Of course!” you say, already having visions in your head.


THE BRIEF


Budget: 45,000 + lot cost (do not include lot cost in the $45,000 budget.
Any size lot can be used but the size of any of the single prototype structures on the lot should not be more than 64 squares total (e.g. 8x8, 4x16, etc.)
Your prototype lot should have at least 3 versions/copies of your design. Layouts can vary for different sized families.
Include a communal garden and any other special touches which may be appropriate for your build climate/location.
Pick one of the following community locations to design for:
Desert
Rainforest
Subarctic
Tropic
Dense urban
(You do not need to own a suitable world for your chosen location but your landscaping and terrain paints should be consistent with the climate
you design for)
Each build will need to be fully securable.
At least two beds in each unit. The main be must be a regular adult bed. The 2nd bed can be a crib or toddler bed.
Toilet/bathing facilities
Cooking facilities
At least one additional skill item of any kind

Room Challenge:

Fully decorate one of the three Simanity prototype modules on your lot to depict a family living in it.
Budget: 12,000

Sim Challenge:

Create a household with at least 3 members and show them in their new Simanity home. Be sure to highlight their traits and outfits in your media.

Overseas Rescue is a development made out of sea-cans. It may not be very beautiful looking, but it was designed to be strong, and easily transported overseas to war torn countries. This will give refugees a safe home with clean water, amenities, and the opportunity for a new beginning.

ENTRY DETAILS: I built 3 prototype modular homes in the Desert- each has its own unique floor plan and amenities. Each structure has the same dimensions. Partitions were used as makeshift walls, it cut the hassle and expense of building a real one. As an added bonus, they also added an element of design to the home. I added architectural options,such as exterior elevations & roof designs. Each home has its own wash line and Garden.. There is recreation space for skill learning and relaxing.. I Built these homes solid & sturdy with safety features in mind like- doors that lock.

ENTRY DETAILS: Located In Oasis Springs, this community (known as Desert Oasis) is designed to give a good start to victims of disaster. Each of the three units is equipped with a full kitchen and private bath. Each has an extra storage unit built in, beds for the family and a living area. All units have a ceiling fan for the hot desert days, a bookshelf for skill building as well as entertainment, and a portable radio for emergency news if the power goes out. One unit has a bonsai tree to help with gardening skill - another has an easel for painting skill - and the third has a child's violin for skill building. There is a covered patio with barbecue area and a chess board for skill building and entertainment and a dart board for entertainment. A playground is included for the kids, and, at the back of the lot is an area for a community garden.

ENTRY DETAILS: Sturdy and solid, this brick and stone triplex will keep sims safe and comfortable in any weather conditions for years to come. ENTRY DETAILS: I’m proposing the Capsules for Simanity to Ms Abby & Mr Tepeu. There’s 4 different prototype proposal to accommodate the Sims in need in any conditions & weather. The Capsules are very practical and can be erected to be transported anywhere in the Sims world to help those in need. Each house has a basic necessity, such as kitchen, bathroom, & room that is suitable for families or singles with a centralisation heater. There’s also a community area for the family to enjoy BBQ, gardening & drying their clothes. For this example, it’s built on a condition for the settlement where a massive flood has destroyed their houses.

ENTRY DETAILS: After a bombing in their community, the Kahn family has had to leave their home with only the clothes on their back. An organization has given them suitcases full of clothes and toys for the kids to play with along with hygiene products to help get them back on their feet. Moving to the Overseas Rescue development has given them hope. The Kahns are cheerful despite their circumstances. Ali loves her family and wants to do her her best as a mother. Abdul has a kind heart for others and is determined to use the opportunities given him to get a good job so he can help others and give their family a future. Jangi just loves to play and can hardly wait to get out on the playground every day. Ahmad is a cheerful boy and is smart like his Dad. He wants to learn everything he can from him. The Kahns are so thankful to Settlement For Simanity for giving them a safe place to live!

Urban Relief is a fenced compound of prototype container homes built on an unused plot of land next to the docks in a dense urban setting. It highlights the use of space despite the population density of a big city. This setup is meant for displaced urban poor in big cities, particularly those whose homes were destroyed by natural disasters. It is highly recommended for placement in developing countries which regularly experience disasters.
Each unit is made up of two small container boxes put together with other units to form a complex. Every unit comes equipped with cooking facilities, a pre-fabricated shower/toilet unit, and furniture donations from charity groups to make the space more habitable. The interiors are entirely open-plan save for the pre-fabricated shower/toilet unit to reduce costs, and it is only meant as temporary housing for half a year or two. All living areas have a bookcase for skill building. Each unit is also equipped with a heavy steel door with reinforced locks to prevent forced entry. Floors are made of concrete as the need for decorative flooring is unnecessary in this case. The units may not look pretty, but residents have painted the once-grey walls to make their living space more bearable.
The compound is secured by fences and gates, and only residents and simanitarian workers are allowed inside. Community facilities include two community gardens, a veranda for fresh air, a basketball court, and a jungle gym for children. The compound also has space to store aid supply crates during disasters, which also explains the need for the enclosure.

ENTRY DETAILS: Welcome to the "Sand Haven" compound. We had to build it quickly to house three families that lost their homes in a natural disaster. The houses are built with modular wood planks and recycled windows & doors. Each unit has a kitchen-dining, a bathroom and two bedrooms. The spot was chosen because there's a fishing pond that provides fish and some water to the dry land.

My take on this challenge was that these are emergency survival shelters that need to be modular and quick to assemble. Having lived in a Hurricane-prone area of the country for most of my life, I tried to go for a slightly more aesthetically pleasing FEMA trailer. These jungle shelters have pre-fabbed walls that come in a variety of lengths so that they can be assembled to create shelters of varying dimensions. Regardless of the size of the shelter, the bathroom module is consistent and can be attached to any side wall of the shelter. All units have a kitchenette with table seating. There is also outdoor cooking available at the fire pit between two of the units. These survival shelters are nothing fancy, but they can be a Godsend for families facing great need.

‘Twas the month of December
As you sat on the floor,
Flipping through pages
Of festive decor -

Candles and tinsel
In shimmering gold,
Green and red flannels,
And a reindeer centerfold.

Inside with your cocoa,
Wrapped up in a robe,
With hopes of peace
Throughout all the globe.

When all of a sudden
The world all around
Fell eerily silent,
Not the slightest of sound!

Until, with a shock,
You heard on the roof
The clippity clatter
Of each tiny hoof!

Why, it’s not even Gift day,
You thought to yourself.
What brings a visit
From that jolly old elf?

But the wonder was answered,
Not a moment to waste.
He came down the chimney
And into your place.

“My dear Architect!”
The old man cried,
And it seemed he was not
Quite so jolly inside.

“I’m in such a state
I have such a need!
Do you have time to perform
Yet another good deed?”

“Of course!” you reply,
“You can count on me
But what on earth
Could Santa’s trouble be?”

The old elf, he sighed,
In an armchair he flopped,
“Those helpers have gone
And blown up my shop!”

You stand there agape;
You can’t quite comprehend.
You finally stammer out,
“Say that again?”

“An unfortunate accident
Caused the destruction.
They were trying to increase
The rate of production,

“But a stray bit of magic
Had started to build-up,
And before we knew it,
The whole place had gone up!

“Not just the shop, either,
The stables are gone,
And half of the house -

Santa Manor is the home of Santa Claus along with Mrs. Claus and three of their top elves. The land also features santa's workshop and the stable which houses Santa's Precious reindeer. I built this house picturing gingerbread houses and the typical christmas themes in mind. I feel like santa would always have his house decorated for christmas because in a way it never ends for him or his family.

ENTRY DETAILS: Chris Kringle and his wife are loosely biased on the 1970's "Santa Clause is Comin to Town" by Raankin:Bass productions. I made the helpers a teen, a child and a toddler. The reindeer are really Greyhound dogs.. I wanted to make the reindeer bigger But could not manipulate the Greatdane as well as I was able to manipulate the greyhound.This BnS109 - Sim CAS Challenge was fun & interesting it challenged me with Making Dogs Reindeer.. I am proud of this creation- I feel for myself I have out done what I usually do in CAS...I have thought myself that- I am a better Builder than I am in CAS- (Yet I was honored with having 2 of my Households become Maxis favorites).. So I guess i am more creative then i think..

ENTRY DETAILS: Kris Kringel is sure a jolly fellow, he loves his job and his life, No wonder when he has such an awsome wife, three kids they have, with cute pointy ears. they make toys in a hurry, so need to worry. Christmas is coming again this year! I have made Kris kringel, his wife Amelia kringel and their three beautiful children who also happens to be their helpers, what a great way to teach your children the gift of giving! So Kringel was lucky enough to get to name to of his kids, but he's not the most inventive one with names, so they ended up beeing called Kristina kringel and Kristian Kringel, Amelia thought the third child should have a diffrent name and named her Ava, They love eachother very much and are having a blast together!

ENTRY DETAILS: After the elf disaster of 2018, Santa and crew needed a new house, stables, and workplace as soon as possible! Luckily, I am very good in a time crunch! I found a new lot for Santa not far from the old one, and I set to work building and designing.
I was given only a few must-haves from Santa's wife, Katrina:
1. All plumbing must be as modern as possible.
2. The antique furnishings they had in storage from relatives now gone were to be used.
3. A large workshop, but also a large fun/entertainment area for those long winter days after Christmas, to relieve the stress of a very hectic season.
4. A lot of red, which is her favorite color, because she says it cheers even the snowiest or foggiest days. And Kris's favorite color is green, so as much green as possible too!
And then, what luck! The community pitched in, with donations garlore! There was beds for the elves, and miscellaneous decorations for all the rooms and outside. Baby stuff for Karter, and a new laundry room for all! And things to entertain the dull hours away, such as a bowling alley, disco, and gym! Work benches and storage shelves for Santa's new shop. And everything new!
I designed my way around all the donated things. A beautiful house emerged, and I was glad. The stables and workshop took more time, just a tad. With five bedrooms, 5 and a half bathrooms, and two locker rooms, the place is immense. But it was definitely time well spent!
Now Santa's family and reindeer have a new, safer place to stay. Doing all this certainly made my day!
The lot traits are: home studio, Penny pixies, and homey.

Now the elves are not able to use the top bunks, but they don't mind. I figured every elf needs a train set, but unfortunately it was over $5000.00 and not in the budget, so we had to return it to the store (please ignore the trains in the pictures, I didn't have the heart to remove it completely)

ENTRY DETAILS: In starting this build, I envisioned an Old World Santa scenario. I was inspired by the architectural style of ares like Bavaria with half-timbered exteriors. The interiors are rustic and Old World as well. There are modern conveniences in the bathrooms but not much in the way of modern entertainments like computers and TVs. The client's helpers really need to stay focused on their work to keep up with demand, and Mr. Klaus really prefers handcrafts and reading for entertainment anyway.

#BnS110 - Young Minds

The deadline for this challenge is 9th January 2019


Double-checking the address, you follow the walkway up to the front door. It’s an older house, but someone has put effort into the upkeep and looks welcoming. The message only said that your assistance would be of great help, but no other details.

You go to knock but the door gives way with a creek under your knuckles. The air has that faint tint of chalk dust, incongruent with the image the house presented upon approach.

“Hello?” you call out, not wanting to intrude without invitation. Not to mention feeling slightly uneasy at the open door.

There comes a crash from somewhere inside, but then a voice calls back, “Hello! Yes, I’m here! Just a moment!”

And true to word, a moment later a kindly-looking older gentleman is at the door. He’s dressed in overalls, and from the look and smell of it, he’s covered in chalk-dust.

“Mr. Gizinski?” you ask, just to ensure you really are at the right house.

“Yes, sorry, I was just cleaning the erasers. Come in, come in!”

You follow him into the living room - or what would have usually been a living room, except this one was filled with small desks and chairs, a chalkboard, easels, toys, and boxes of who-knows-what. Shelves filled with books lined every wall. There is so much crammed into the room that there’s hardly any room to walk.

“As you can see, I’m running out of space here,” he says, pushing some desks aside to make more room for the two of you. “That’s why I need you.”

“Oh! You wish for… an addition?”

“No, no. Oh no, that would never do. It would look so awkward on this house…”

You can appreciate a person who appreciates architectural aesthetics.

“No, I think I need a whole new place, a new daycare and school for these delightful children! My passion has always been expanding the minds of our youth, bringing the wide knowledge of the world into their grasps and watching their eyes fill with wonder.”

“Oh! Yes, I see, a daycare.” You glance around at all the desks and learning toys. “I must say, I’ve never seen one that is so- well… educational!”

“That’s why the parents come to me, I think. My daycare isn’t just a babysitting service, I teach them things that the schools don’t. Sure, they learn maths and languages, but what about a love of arts? Appreciation for nature? Ancient history and future technologies? I want them to know that ‘there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy’!”

You recognize the quote from Shakespeare, and find yourself wishing you had had him as a teacher back in your day! So much passion, so much love for the children. It’s a refreshing experience and you are being caught up in it, already starting to sketch out some ideas.

“So, school area, bathrooms, kitchen,” you mumble as you go.

“Yes, yes! And play and nap areas,” he adds.

You look up and smile. “I think you - and your children - are going to be quiet happy.”

ENTRY DETAILS: I have a very fond memory from when I was toddler, my mom would bring me to an indoor garden to run around. What a wonderful place in the dead of winter! I still think indoor public gardens are a wonderful luxury in winter. Anyways, this build is a daycare for toddlers with a Fort built around a center atrium. It is a square build with a round dome to accommodate the magnolia tree. The center atrium is the play area for the toddlers. Mr. Gizinski and his daughter live on site.

ENTRY DETAILS: Dino Daycare is a daycare for toddlers and kids. We believe in learning through play and therefore provide a safe environment for 6 learners in total. We have a reading corner, a creative corner, a fantasy play area, carpet time, we do not believe in worksheets, so tables are there for lunch time or for play time. We have a sandpit area, monkey bars and splash-pool. We also teach the kids about gardening etc. Layout of the daycare is open-plan so the 2 daycare-moms can see what is happening at all times. We have a separate bathroom for boys and girls and we also have a toddler bathroom. The owner of the daycare, Izumi Yoshida, regularly makes her rounds through the daycare and also loves to read stories to the kids. She has had experience with kids with learning barriers, etc, so she put in a bubble wall as it seems to calm them down while the other kids are playing. It is also very important to have good communication with parents and staff so Izumi made sure to have an office. If the teacher is busy and parents want to see the teacher, the not so important stuff is written down and put in the mailbox which is apparently in the office

The fenced back yard has plenty of room for them to play or just wander around without risking them wandering out into the street or into the desert. ENTRY DETAILS: The Colorful Castle Daycare has an open floor plan for keeping an eye on the children as much as Simly possible. The reception/ child check-in is inside the front door. The bathrooms and room dividers section off the nap area from the other areas, but one can see through the slotted room divider easily. There are two play areas, one inside and one outside, with educational and fun toys as well as a reading "circle" and activity tables. Two large bathrooms complete with tubs and toddler potties will help keep kids clean and happy. The is a full kitchen with large table to eat at. And there is, of course, a large learning area! Fences surround the two doors into the building and divide the play area from the entrance, with gates which lock. This is to prevent children from just running out of the building into possible dangers. There is also a gate and fence around the reception area. All you need to add is workers and kids to have a great time at this daycare!

ENTRY DETAILS: Mr. Gizinski was really excited about his new daycare center and he named it "Bright Tomorrows Daycare". He worked hard at laying out a plan to make it run smoothly and give him the opportunity to teach those young minds. Reluctantly, he decided that he just couldn't accept toddlers. Since this is a one-man operation, he just couldn't devote the extra time to the toddlers that they would need. But he designed the new center to have all the facilities he would need for his dear children - a reading center with loads of books and a puppet theater, arts and crafts, a teaching center, play area, kitchen and dining room, and a quiet area in the corner without windows where the children could take naps. The center of the room was open, with plenty of space for group games like "Mother May I?" and "Simon Says", and activities such as exercises and dancing. Outside there is a playground and a garden area so he can teach them to grow plants and watch them wonder at nature as their plants start to grow. There's also a couple of bird feeders to encourage bird watching.

The lil'Shakespeare Library is a triumph of urban renewal..Set in the Spice Market Neighborhood . It's A family neighborhood famous for its Spice Festival, Flea Market and dockland views.
Knowing that Mr Gizinski was passionate about a unique way to learn and had so much love for children.. I went back in my mind to the Many wonderful Schools from Sims 3 which had very pleasing architectural aesthetics. Such as the Sims 3 Aurora Skies ,- Nature & Nurture learning Academy ,The Tiny Protogy Learning Center and the newest Sims 4 LLama Land Library. I tried to take aspects I felt he would appreciate from each one and combined them in to this - The Lil'Shakespeare library..

ENTRY DETAILS: Mr. Gizinski and his daughter Calliope (Who prefers to go by Call) are in charge of running "Gizinski's Higher Learning Daycare and Education Center" Currently they have one family, but with the new building, they are planning on expanding their service. Mr. Gizinski is a genius who loves the arts and music. Call, is a genius like her father but loves to play, she is a goofball and has a lot of fun with the kids! She is also family oriented and dreams of having a family of her own one day. Currently they care for 3 children; Liam, Tiara, and Serenity. Liam is a genius, he loves to learn, and he loves Mr. Gizinski. Tiara is creative and really enjoys the creative aspect that the daycare provides. Serenity is a toddler and she is very curious. This building and play area give her many opportunities to satisfy her curiosity. Their parents are very pleased that they are able to bring their children to this wonderful center with such wonderful people to care for their children.

At Gizinski's Recreational Educational Academy for Toddlers (GREAT for short), we pay great attention to all your kid's needs. We provide paramount care and education, build characters and social skills, and make sure your child is properly prepared for higher learning. Layout:
2 story, old brick house, refurbished to fit the needs and regulations for a daycare. Open spaces all over.
Ground floor: The entire ground floor is open plan, wrapping around the stairs to the upper floor. Only the bathroom is totally closed off by floor to ceiling walls, the rest of the floor is open. Nap rooms are closed off with half walls.
Ground floor includes: Entrance area. Wardrobe for the kids. Information board for the parents.
Two nap rooms. Hallways. Bathroom. Kitchen and lunch room. Laundry nook. Back door hallway leading to the outside playground.
Upstairs: Open space recreational and educational area. Gated off.
The entire upper floor is totally open space, so Mr. Gizinski can watch all the kids, from any corner of the floor. Also there is an open view to the floor below, so even if he's up here, he can see the front door, the kitchen and other important areas of downstairs.
Upper floor includes: Arts & Crafts area, Physical Educations area, Reading nook, Gaming area, Educational area, Pets, Play area.
Outside:
The playground includes swings, a slide, a sandpit, a hopscotch area and loads of toys, a small vegetable garden and seating area.

#BnS111 - Anchors Aweigh

The deadline for this challenge is 23rd January 2019


You arrive at the marina with time to spare. Karl had told you that your meeting was with a businessman, but he wanted to meet you at the docks. You arrive at the slip number and moored in front of you is a somewhat derelict boat, held in place by a crane. You strain your eyes upward and see a woman on board cleaning the glass on a port hole, and a man gathering up some rope.

"Ahoy there" calls the man, waving his hand over his head. He tells you to board the yacht via the gangplank from the pier.

Once on-board, the man walks over to you and shakes your hand. His hands feel calloused and rough. As he smiles at you, you notice there are crinkles around his eyes and his face looks weather beaten. “Isn’t she a beaut?" he says, admiring the boat. You look around the boat nodding your head, but see planks missing from the main walkway and some seawood dangling from a rigging.

"Oh don't mind how she looks now...it's how she's going to look."

You peer at him not quite understanding what he means and think that you might be the next swabbie.

"umm....Mr....", you start.

"Oh, sorry, name's John, Captain John Buttercups, and the little lady up there is my First Mate, Cordelia, and this boat used to be magnificent until she tangled with a hurricane off the coast. She sunk near some rocks, but we salvaged her and she's back. And that's where you come in."

"It is?" you say, still not quite sure what the Captain is looking for.

"Yes, I was hoping that you would take on the job of restoring her to her former glory."

"Well, I am not in the habit of restoring boats, Captain..." you start to say.

"But a boat is like a house, just on water. I know you can do it. And it's not like we want a cruise liner or anything" Captain says smiling broadly.

"Well, that's true, you say. So, what exactly are you looking for?" You take out your pad and pen and start taking notes.

"Well, the boat is completely gutted, so I would say 3 bedrooms, a master bedroom, a guest bedroom and the crew's quarters. We really want the master bedroom to be luxurious with our own en suite and balcony. The crew's quarters can be shared, but needs 2 single beds. And there should be another bathroom."

"Anything else?" you ask jotting things down.

"Well, of course, a galley kitchen...most definitely a chef's kitchen. And a grand living space with a bar and some entertainment. And Cordelia likes to read out on deck, so a good library and lots of deck chairs to relax and enjoy the ocean. Any other surprises would be welcome to help us relax and enjoy life. But that's about it."

You look at the boat again and close your notebook as a seagull squawks overhead. “I think we can do this. So, I guess it's Anchors Aweigh!"


THE BRIEF


Budget: $300K (includes the cost of the lot)
Design a boat. Can be any type of boat from a yacht to a houseboat.
Any lot size, any world, any style. Can be multi-levels..
Must have 3 bedrooms. One master bedroom with a balcony and ensuite. A guest bedroom. Crew's quarters, can be a shared space, but must have 2 single beds. An extra bathroom.
Chef's galley kitchen.
Living area with bar and entertainment. Library could be included here or in a separate space.
Lots of deck chairs on deck.
Must be on water or an "illusion" of water and docked at a pier with a walkway from the pier to the boat.

Sim Challenge

Create Captain John Buttercups and Cordelia and show ways they enjoy the nautical lifestyle. You can make them any stage from Young Adult to Adult to Elder, but their attire and traits should be attuned to their boating ways.

Room Challenge:

Create the Chef's galley kitchen

ENTRY DETAILS: While renovating the boat, a catamaran, they found it in bad shape. After some discussions they decided it was not worth to make it fully sail-able again, at least not by itself. To honor the old boat they decided to make it their new home, why they choose a lovely spot near the riverside, and renovated the boat to a modern home.

ENTRY DETAILS: "Nautica Home Chef Galley" - This room is a 'home chef' grade kitchen, a step below the industrial standard, but extremely comforting for a food-loving sim to have everything within reach. I made it as a kitchen-only, with no dining space, as no professional kitchen has a space where you should eat (though who doesn't take a chip every now and then).
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Sure. I would also be very open to feedback on taking the showcase shots (I've read the guide and spent quite a while taking the shots but I know they could be better!)

Cap'n John Buttercups and his first mate/wife Cordelia love the freedom of the ocean and spending the many simoleons John got from selling deep-sea loot on improving their houseboat. Cordelia is often judged for being with such an older man, but she's not (just) a gold digger; more reserved than her other half yet also a nature lover, the fit is perfect with John self-assured enough for the both of them and the rest of their shared lifetime with a passion to share between them. They both have a decent tan and are fairly fit due to their outdoorsy lifestyle. John is still quite a babe despite his age, as his passion for life and his young wife keep him sprightly.

ENTRY DETAILS: For this build, I attempted realism. I didn't want my boat to feel landlocked, so a lot of the budget was spent on water. The end result is a small yacht with three bedrooms and three bathrooms which looks like it could take at least a bit of a turn around a private lake. ENTRY DETAILS: This yacht is perfect for the modern captain. The yacht is located in Newcrest on a lake, and consists of 3 different levels. The lower level rooms the galley kitchen, dining room, office space, music room, a second living area, a guest bedroom, a bathroom and the crew's quarters with beds and a bathroom. The middle level is the primary entertaining area, with modern but classic seating furniture, a big library and a bar to match. The third level is the master suite and ensuite, with closet space and seating. All the levels have huge decks with lots of seating space.

ENTRY DETAILS: I was inspired by luxury yachts and decided to try and recreate one myself. This was a challenge, I only had a couple of days and I'd never built a 'boat' before. I wanted something more modern on the outside but luxury traditional on the inside. There's a mix of styles. Blue and white is a theme throughout, very nautical but also neutral and calming.

ENTRY DETAILS: John Buttercups grew up on the sea, learning how to steer a ship and fish and everything else associated with living on the ocean form his parents. Cordelia lived on the coast but spent a lot of time at sea as well. The two met in High School and instantly hit it off, marrying as soon as they could and setting out to live their lives at sea as much as possible. When their first ship was badly damaged, it seemed the perfect time to have a houseboat built just for them.

ENTRY DETAILS: The Albatross is a solid and classic looking boat, ready for sailing the 7 seas and endure come what may. For this challenge I went for a ready-to-set-sail-from-the-dock theme. So I created a small garden, a paying parking lot, the access stairs with some cargo around and a couple of street food stalls (sushi as we are by the sea and Indian for vegetarians) on the front of the lot. #BnS112 - Seeing Double

You almost want to look at your drink and make sure someone didn’t slip something into it. You’ve seen twins before, but not quite like this. They are not only identical in their features, but their hair is done the same way, they have the exact same outfit on, and even their accessories match!

“We couldn’t ever be away from one another,” the first says. You think this one is Freya, but you’ve already gotten them mixed up.

The other, whom you are sure is Phoebe, agrees. “It would break our hearts!”

“And besides, this will help us save on bills!”

Well, that is a very practical approach, you agree.

“So we’d like a house that matches us!” You’ve given up trying to remember which one is which now.

“Well, two, but one.”

“Oh, a duplex!” You’re a little surprised that they didn’t seem to know the term but you finally realize what they’ve been getting at. “Two houses in a single building.”

They both grin. Even their reactions perfectly mirror one another.

“Perfect!” they say in unison

“So what do you both need in your houses?”

They each begin to speak, finishing each other’s sentences and reminding one another of a forgotten detail or offering a new idea. Eventually you have a list and go back over it to be sure.

“So you’ll each need two bedrooms, a third spare room that can be used as an office or hobby room, open living area, a shared backyard for ‘wicked’ parties with a pool and outdoor facilities. You generally want a more modern feel but you’re open to ideas, and you’d love a balcony somewhere to enjoy the views.”

They both nod excitedly as you read off each point and finally clap at the end.

“You’re the best!” Phoebe says - you think?

“We can’t thank you enough!” Freya cries - maybe?

After seeing some prior submissions on the thread, I wanted to come up with an option for the twins that was more homey, but still offered a modern style and finish. Coming in under budget, this twin farmhouse duplex is designed to be newly renovated and perfectly mirrored. Each of the twin residencies feature; 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, a small office space, open living & eating quarters, hobby room, as well as a shared pool & bar patio. Enjoy!

ENTRY DETAILS: This is two separate homes connected by a 2 story party room. Each home has a common area with a loft or bonus room. The bedrooms are like little cabins at 90 degrees to the common rooms resulting in a big C shape around a back courtyard. The courtyard contains the pool. The patio extends out of the courtyard where there is a grill, dining table, fire pit and chess table. The red 2 story party room has a bar and Foosball on the main floor and DJ booth and dance floor on the second floor. It also has tinted windows for privacy. The yellow home on the left belongs to Phoebe. In her bonus room there is a gym. The blue home on the right belongs to Freya. Freya's bonus room is a music room. Each home has a two bedrooms and a 4 pc bath with laundry. Behind each of the bonus rooms is a small balcony. Phoebe's has a table fire and card table. Freya's has an easel and chairs to relax.

ENTRY DETAILS: The Mullet, business in the front, party in the back! The duplex has a modern feel and some bold colours (or should I say, chaotic :D ). Both homes are almost completely the same, but there's a slight variation of colours in the interior, and the left home has a study where the right home has a social media room. Both sides have 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The small balcony is shared and the backyard has a pool, bar, seating area and BBQ for all dem wild parties. Furniture isn't top of the line, I struggled to keep it within budget, but surely the ladies can save up some money and upgrade later :# (or just move it to a cheaper lot... kind of shot myself in the foot there) The only 2 rooms not pictured in the slideshow are the tiny bathrooms on the ground floor.

ENTRY DETAILS: One of my favorite builds I did in Sims 3 was for BnS Week 14 (that was in September 2009!!!!). It was also a duplex, and I called it Double the Fun! I was excited to re-imagine this Sim 3 build with our Sims 4 building tools. And I could luckily accomplish a lot of it with the release of the new terrain tools. While the units are mirror images of each other down to most accents and furnishings, each sister has chosen colors and other details suited to their individual personalities. For examples, Freya prefers red while Phoebe's favorite color is blue. And Freya's creative outlet is painting while Phoebe loves streaming her gaming sessions and creating videos for SimTube.

Ready for a blast from the past? We are firing up the WAYBACK MACHINE and dusting off a vintage Sims 3 challenge from Week 50 - the very first year of the Sims 3 BuildnShare challenge. Buckle up and go back in time with us!

You weren't sure where to look. The couple in front of you seemed to have forgotten you were there. Sitting in front of you on the opposite couch were The Meronas, Carlos and Betty. Newlyweds, of course. They were entwined around each other now, Betty in Carlos's lap.

It started with some simple affectionate patting as they started to explain how they had decided to have a modest wedding and set that money aside to have a honeymoon retreat built. "Somewhere romantic," Betty had said as Carlos rubbed her knee.

After informing you that they wanted a secluded, romantic hideaway and how they only had a budget of 35,000 simoleans, you looked down to jot down some notes. By the time you looked back up, Betty was in Carlos' lap and they were in full "make out" mode.

You tried clearing your throat softly at first, but they continued. After a few more moments, you decided to just get up and leave them alone for a bit.

The neighborhood has steams and ponds, lovely wild flowers and a rustic little bridge, all of which provide lovely, romantic walkways. The front deck has a couch to cuddle up on while enjoying the mood lighting provided by a tree strung with lights and set in a planter. ENTRY DETAILS: After all the stress and excitement of the wedding, Betty and Carlos knew they wanted to honeymoon someplace quiet and secluded. They just wanted to get away from it all. And the perfect place turned out to be a small lot that sits on the lake in Windenburg. It was totally secluded, surrounded by trees and foliage. The lake was perfect for fishing, and there were plenty of hiking trails in the area.

Is your sim looking for a place to propose, have a honeymoon, a romantic getaway or just wants a lovely & romantic home for two? This cozy, romantic cottage has what your sim couple needs to have that special time alone! Your sims will especially love the hot tub, fireplace & loveseats, bonfire, dual bathtubs, candlelight & flowers. If they are feeling playful there's a game table, books, plus a small TV (big enough to watch a romantic movie but not so big it is an overly-fun distraction to the hubby... just sayin'...). (And all sims love the globe bar, so I just had to add one of those. Romantic aura and moodlet objects will also help them stay in the mood for love (plus it has the 'romantic' lot trait)!
The evening’s highlight is a lovely garden gazebo with a special dinner for two (click the swans for a flirty moodlet, click the violin to hire a violinist, and click the table for food and drink instantly - or even choose chocolate in the fountain!). The mystical tree and alien flowers add a lovely iridescent quality and an extra-romantic feel to the back yard/garden, especially at night. Romance is in the air everywhere on this lot... and all for under $35,000!
Funny aside note... when I tested the lot I had the couple use the buffet table in the gazebo to 'order' their meal, and after their time in the back yard they went into the home. Well, I was not paying attention to the back yard but at one point I happened to lower the wall and 'lo-and-behold' there was a group of neighbors (probably that silly 'welcome wagon' group) eating away, visiting with each other and enjoying the back yard. They didn't even get distracted by the need to bother the couple by knocking on the door, loafing on the porch, or leaving an an offended huff... win-win. Neighbors are won over with no annoyance. Lol!

Storybooks end in Happily Ever After so how about a storybook cottage? The other requirement was a getaway so tuck said storybook cottage away in the jungle. Now we have a storybook cottage with palm trees instead of an english rose garden. I hope this combination is not too odd. Happily Ever After is a three room cottage in the jungle with some outdoor living space as well.

ENTRY DETAILS: In the Panhandle of Florida where I'm from, there are several modern beach communities along Hwy 30A like Seaside and Water Color that are planned communities with bright, pastel houses in a typical beachhouse style. That's where I drew my inspiration for this Love Shack. It's a tiny one bedroom/one bath - cozy but with all the ameneties a honeymooning couple would need. Hot tub did you say? Of course! Your lovebird sims can have a soak and enjoy the ocean view, or whatever else they may feel like getting up to It's nestled right near the water, perfect for romantic strolls on the beach.
