Hello StSciurus!
I know I promised to comment on your showcase about a week ago, and I sincerely apologize for taking so long to get to your thread. My health continues to be a challenge, but fortunately, I’m having a bit of a reprieve from my symptoms today and I mean to make the most of it. :)
I’m so excited to see that you finished Pemberly and posted a slideshow of it. I’ve been dying to see this build completed ever since I saw it posted on the WiP thread. The exterior, of course, is stunning. I love what you did with both the landscaping and the outer buildings. You really gave Pemberly the feel of a large estate with the sitting areas, the various gardens, the pond and the little nooks with all the ruins. The small gardening shed and groundskeeper’s cottage were also a great touch. You truly gave the house an authentic, antique feel, even with the modern areas such as the patio and pool. Furthermore, the lay-out is complex, but cohesive. Truly, this house is a masterpiece and it reminds me of some of the great houses in English literature; Manderly, Thornfield Hall, Bly and of course, the original Pemberley. ;)
Of course, the interior is also gorgeous. You were very smart to mix some of the Georgian/Regency elements with more modern rooms and furnishings. The foyer and dining room are both beautifully arranged, but I also like how you updated the breakfast nook and dancing pavilion. The contrast between both the traditional and contemporary decorating styles works very well in Pemberly. In my opinion, you’ve played out the theme of transition throughout the entire manor, taking into account not only the interior variations of styles, but also the ancient ruins outside Pemberly, which make me think an even older house may have once stood in its place.
Again, I think you did an incredible job with Pemberly. All of your hard work and attention to detail certainly paid off. Thank you for sharing the slideshow on your thread. I really enjoyed going through all the pictures. :) I hope you’re doing well!
