Ultimate Decades Challenge - Day 32 - Year 1307 - Updated Nov. 17
Hello! Follow along with me as I play Morbid's Ultimate Decades Challenge! The challenge begins in the year 1300 and goes all the way through history to the present day.
We will follow Thomas Farvale, 16, living with his parents, Caitlin and Edward Farvale. He has two older sisters. Anna (20) and Elizabeth (18) who are both married.

Thomas lives here with his parents on their small family farm.

I have updated Henford-on-Bagley to look medieval, as well as a few other worlds. I used a combination of some builds from DivanTheSimmer's Medieval Save and SnarkyWitch's Medieval Henford-on-Bagley. I also am using quite a few mods, but that's totally not necessary in order to do this challenge. :)
Aww, poor Elizabeth, i really hope last time trying is the one <3 cute about keeping the bird painting! I am curious how he fits those parents there :) ps. I assume you played this update beforehand , because no name for the rooster yet :p
Lol I still have to look at what I named the rooster. I would like to leave his parents with Anna and Richard, it just didn't make sense why they wouldn't come home. Buuuuut, I may have to make up something, it's nicer having them as part of the side household.
I'm glad Kimberly seems to be doing okay with the pregnancy. Poor Elizabeth. Hopefully the last try will be the one. If she couldn't have a child, would the rules allow her and John to adopt one?
The cabin looks great! I like Kimberly's lute! I wanted to mention, if you're ever in need of a different lute, or would like one with custom sounds/songs, I have this one in my game: https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/lute-skill Sims can't sing while playing it, though, and the one you have is very nice! :) Just thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to try it sometime.
I'm glad Thomas was able to shoo the fox away. That was close! And baby Maren is so cute! Those death rolls make me nervous! I'm glad everyone's okay for now.
Hopefully Thomas will get a lot of money when he's able to sell his masterpiece painting to an art gallery.
Sadly, they aren't allowed to adopt. I don't think adoption was very common then among peasants, unless it was a child of a family that had died. Possibly wealthy families may have adopted, but I'm not really sure. I'm sure there were homeless children that needed adoption...Perhaps they could take in a homeless orphan. I'll have to think of something for them because the poor dears did not get pregnant on their 10th attempt either. And thank you for that mod suggestion! This one plays as a guitar so having the lute skill would be nice!
but Hank is cool name :P In my game Ian and Derek has a dog named Kevin and cat called Betty :D Elizabeth could indeed take in homeless orphan. Lots of those back then because of high death rate/ young deaths.
Day 10 https://i.ibb.co/xMH5qkw/10-25-23-9-44-42-PM.png
Kimberly was in her 3rd trimester now and had finally stopped feeling nauseous. Thomas and Kimberly took a trip into Finchwick to visit her father at his new blacksmith shop in town.
“What do you think of my new place?” Benjamin asked as he gave Kimberly a hug.
“It’s perfect,” she replied. “We have some news for you as well.” She patted her stomach.
Benjamin seemed to be at a loss for words. https://i.ibb.co/PmwsVVQ/10-25-23-9-45-34-PM.png
“You’re with child?” https://i.ibb.co/5hfNLxG/10-25-23-9-45-46-PM.png
Kimberly laughed her singsong laugh. “Yes, we’re expecting the baby any day now.”
Benjamin was overcome with emotion. He wiped his eyes on his sleeve, sniffed, and then smiled.
“I’m truly happy for you both.” https://i.ibb.co/JHQ6N0v/10-25-23-9-45-52-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/jz5Fdhn/10-25-23-9-46-12-PM.png
“We’d like it if you’d come by later for dinner,” Kimberly told her father.
“I will come. I’d like to see where you’re living now.” https://i.ibb.co/fxLNDpq/10-25-23-9-46-32-PM.png
While they were in Finchwick they were surprised by Anna and Caitlin.
“Thomas!” Anna called. https://i.ibb.co/58XN6nX/10-25-23-9-48-04-PM.png
“I’m so glad we ran into you. It saves us the trouble of sending a letter.”
“Has something happened?” Thomas asked. https://i.ibb.co/Jm1F3T6/10-25-23-9-50-11-PM.png
“Richard received word that he is to receive some land in the Bramblewood to be closer to the Knight’s Stronghold where he is to serve as Knight. So, we’ve moved. It’s a very nice place, there’s plenty of space there and farmland. But oh…”
She suddenly started to cry. https://i.ibb.co/286whJF/10-25-23-9-49-59-PM.png
“Father has fallen ill.”
“Ill?”
She composed herself and went on. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be upset. The physician said it wasn’t very serious. He should recover, but he needs to rest for a while.” https://i.ibb.co/6FkBP5P/10-25-23-9-49-26-PM.png
“I’m afraid they will not be able to move back home to the farm with you. I’m sorry, Thomas.”
“It’s okay, we will manage,” he assured her. He was just glad it wasn’t anything too serious that his father was ill with. He said a silent prayer that everything would work out.
“The new cottage has lots of room for Mother and Father, and there is farmland that needs tended to…and well, we talked about it and thought it might be best for Mother and Father to stay with us long term.”
“I see…” Thomas was thinking this news over in his head. He hadn’t expected to inherit the farm so soon.
“I hope you’re okay with it?” Anna asked hesitantly.
“Like I said, we can manage. I’m just glad that Father is okay. Make sure he gets lots of rest.”
His mother came over then and Thomas asked her how she was doing. https://i.ibb.co/9q48yvb/10-25-23-9-55-28-PM.png
“It’s nothing serious,” Caitlin assured him, just like Anna had. “We are quite comfortable with Richard and Anna. They’ve been so gracious to us. And we are happy to work the farm there. I’m sorry we won’t be able to come and help you when the baby comes.”
“It’s alright, Mother. We’ve got everything handled. And the Bramblewood is not far; we’ll come visit after the baby arrives.”
“I’m so glad to hear it! Thomas, I’m so proud of you.” https://i.ibb.co/5BCvdTq/10-25-23-9-54-27-PM.png

They stopped by The Gnome’s Arms Tavern, but Simon wasn’t in. His wife, Sara, was there, and she had news for Thomas. https://i.ibb.co/CWmTZwy/10-25-23-9-56-57-PM.png
“There is a traveling art gallery set to arrive tomorrow,” she told him. “Please bring your best paintings. The cart will be set up here next to the tavern. I do hope we will see you.”
“I’ll be sure to be there!” he told her. https://i.ibb.co/Fx4xwt0/10-25-23-9-56-58-PM.png

Later they prepared the cottage for the baby’s arrival, and the arrival of Kimberly’s father for dinner. Thomas tried to get Kimberly to sit down, but she was bustling about. https://i.ibb.co/8xjcNN7/10-25-23-10-02-38-PM.png
“Oh, I’m fine,” she assured him. “I’m feeling wonderful now that the nausea has passed.” https://i.ibb.co/k5jFB3z/10-25-23-10-04-03-PM.png
Kimberly went to find some food in the larder and almost tripped over Hank. She picked him up and he flapped his wings and clucked at her. “Dear Hank,” she said, hugging him, “I wouldn’t dream of cooking you.” https://i.ibb.co/r37pDJq/10-25-23-10-03-28-PM.png
“We’ll have some bread and cheese.” She got it, and set it on the table.
Her father arrived then and she let him in. https://i.ibb.co/dQ9yZPF/10-25-23-10-04-41-PM.png
They showed him the small cottage. Small as it was, it was very homey, and Benjamin seemed pleased. https://i.ibb.co/Tg542LS/10-25-23-10-05-47-PM.png
Kimberly showed him her lute and the new crib for the baby. https://i.ibb.co/hVx4MYX/10-25-23-10-06-46-PM.png
And then they sat down to eat together. https://i.ibb.co/RH9MJKK/10-25-23-10-10-30-PM.png
Benjamin noticed how well Thomas and Kimberly got on together and some small fear in his chest was relived. It seemed his daughter really was in good hands. https://i.ibb.co/TmkjHM1/10-25-23-10-11-55-PM.png https://i.ibb.co/GWkrVbB/10-25-23-10-11-58-PM.png
From google: "By the ninth century, many knights and nobles held estates (fiefs) granted by greater lords in return for military and other service. This feudal system (from the medieval Latin feodum or feudum, fee or fief) enabled a cash-poor but land-rich lord to support a military force."
I wanted to move the family back to Henford-on-Bagley so they wouldn't have to keep traveling to Windenburg and since Richard is a knight this seemed to make sense. So they live in the Bramblewood now and I moved Kimberly's father to a blacksmith shop in Finchwick.
Kimberly doesn't look very pregnant and I think it's because she's a teen and teens aren't really supposed to be pregnant. Not really sure.
Day 10 - Good logic to move to the Bramblewood to be close to the Knight's Stronghold - which was the same in my game - knight training. And I do hope that Thomas's father will be fine, but good reason for them staying with his sister. Yeah, need room for all those babies...lol Glad that the travelling art show will be coming tomorrow, so that Thomas can sell his artwork. So happy that Kimberly's father was pleased with the little cottage that Kimberly and Thomas live in...and soon to be baby.
Day 9 - Happy Birthday Elizabeth. And Thomas shares his baby news. So nice that Kimberly sings him a love song
@SoulGal7 No worries. :) Thanks for your comments.
@Ellupelluellu Thank you! I always forget to do the ceilings. Usually I leave them because I'm so annoyed that you can only paint them with flooring and not wall stuff. But in this case, wood to match the floor would be good.
