Townies look terrible these days. I've actually used cheats to make them look more presentable. Large nose rings are not popular in the US (or anywhere else that I know of). I'm tired of men wearing women's makeup--some guys doing that is fine, but it makes it hard for my Sims to find someone to date. I'm all for deversity, but that should include vanilla looking people as well.

It be helpful if there was a casual outfit pool of "styled looks" (and depending on what packs you have, what occult it is and/or what world you are in), that would determine how generated townies would dress. It be even nicer if players could make their own styled looks and check a box for "Allow for Generated Townies".
And accessories would be very limited, I am scared at some of the amounts of facial piercings (and other rando accessories) some townies get and I am someone who had a lip piercing, belly button and the industrial all before I was 19, and had friends with even more piercings.

EA could take a few notes from Inzoi on this subject. All the NPC's in Inzoi fit in with their environments and actually look good enough to eat! 😁
I'm hoping that Inzoi is learning from the 25 year old giant EA when it comes to game preformance and compatibility.
Engine. 👀

They don't really need AI, they could easily program them to just use whole body outfits or chose from the premade looks. I don't really mind the whacky outfits, you can see real people dressed like that on the streets in any city if you look closely enough.

Yes you can see interesting people in the real world on the streets at anytime...but not in every establishment or neighborhood you visit at all times...like in The Sims 4.
This needs to be controlled or toggled with a better NPC outfit regenerator.

I've wondered if the outlandish Townie fashion is to prompt players toward the Style Influencer base game career. This career unlocks the ability for you to set up to 5 trending outfits each, for both Masculine and Feminine, that Townies will wear out in public. It also unlocks the ability to give an on-the-spot full makeover to individual Townies, including changing hair, makeup and accessories. Career Branches determine which perk you'd prefer to have first:
Trend Setter Branch - trending outfits first, then on-the-spot makeover later.
Stylist Branch - makeover first, then trending outfits later. - flauschtrud26 days agoSeasoned Ace
Being able to create your own styled looks and then share them with others on the gallery would probably be the nicest way. No need for AI, but instead a way to be creative.

We could even have something like the Cupid's Corner and gallery cross mechanic.

One request I'd make, if Styled Looks become intertwined with Townie fashion, is the option to disable Styled Looks from applying to my created Sims of both my played and unplayed households. I've meticulously curated my Sims fashions to match their stories and personalities.
It'd be the same toggle to disable my Sims from purchasing fashion from Retail mannequins [Get To Work], Thrift Tea [High School Years], and base game Trending Outfits of the Stylist career.
I enjoy redressing and making over non-played NPC Townies, however I want the ability to protect my carefully crafted Sims from being affected or even from visiting my clothing retail shop where they'll purchase an outfit that assigns to an unused outfit slot.
And, for good measure, disabling Situational Outfits from applying to my Sims (looking at you, Realm of Magic) would also be very much appreciated.
