Bug-report sidelined

Who else has this happened to ?

It's happened to me twice (at least as far as i've noticed ) . One bug report received a lot of votes very quickly ! ... but then i found it as a "comment" under a completely different old bug report  (with over 1k of other comments , 200 votes ) .

Remarkably, nobody did claim responsibility both times !    ...  Neither I have been informed WHY both bug reports were sidelined  .

I also remember reading a comment somewhere, in which someone complains that his bug report was put under another report, which doesn't even match the topic .

So i am wondering :       Does this happen more often ??

In my case : As i noticed my second bug-report being sidelined to be forgotten (more easily ?). > YES - i got very angry . > and YES : I express myself in a comment . (... never use too many capital letters and red, big exclamation marks ... 😂🫢)  > the result was that my post got deleted and i simply was banned (strangly enough, only for a VERY short time - as if it were meant as a symbolically answer from 'EA-Solaire' to my reply & question : „ I want u to respect my bug-reports.  What will u do to solve this problem ?") .

You know - in my opinion, a good reaction would have been : „ I see you . And i will explain why this happened ... ".  (> i don't even expect an apology !!)

So now i'm still sitting here with unanswered questions ... (🤔 i would really like to use a big, red question mark here ... but "pssst")     >>   For what purpose was my bug report moved ?

Yeah, from what I can understand, computer specs are pretty high. And any sort of legacy/forever save files just get buggy as heck. And yes mods can be worse, but I think it is rather unfair that it is assumed to be ones mods from the never use mods/cc players.

I am on the fence on what is worth reporting, and what isn't because I do feel there is systemic flaws in the reporting system, and I will be mostly wasting my own time putting the work into the investigation and reporting. And some they are just letting rot despite the large amount of upvotes, that it is reproduceable, etc. I think out of all the bug reports I have done, I am just hoping at least 3 of my top concerns get fixed... but I am not holding my breath.

I also feel the same way about my feedback posts. I know there a highest chance none will be taken seriously. But I cautiously am optimistic that maybe I might get some of the minor/easier ones.

@HollownessDevour, I quit playing Sims 4 for about 18 months due to certain bugs that were too immersion breaking. Sims 4 isn't being made better or even getting proper bug fixes before more bloatware is added.

I say this as a person who was able to play the orginal The Sims from when it launched in 2000 up until 2014, when we graded our computer to Windows 10. I only stopped playing it because the operating system refused to allow it to be downloaded. I didn't even purchase Sims 4 until 2016.

The bug reporting process has always been not user friendly, even on the old forums. They even blamed my reported problems as mod related years before I ever used mods. So an issue I had in a mod-free game was attributed to the use of mods.

Personally, I quit reporting bugs, because I found my reports did not get the attention deserved. The reporting process is also not very user-friendly, at least from experience.

    Honestly, this is completely understandable.

Sometimes CAS bug reports may it be tags/colours/etc. seem to get more attention and fixed sometimes with less upvotes than other reports where nothing has happened, but because they are at CAS level more users notice and report/upvote, so they again, get more attention that way too.

Other reports, in some cases are backlash reporting. Such as when Ailments came out, and overwhelmed gameplay for most players. I saw bug reports at first just pushed to feedback then they went "viral" with comments, complaints and upvotes, it was re-instated (moved back to bug reports) and prioritized for 2 fixes. 1st wasn't enough for many players; they added a Ailment Toggle shortly after (and I think another reduction is spreading).

Other than that is really seems to be a balance of how many votes, how easy it is to reproduce, and how easy a fix is. There are many posts with plenty of upvotes with months or years of nothing done.

The average player really doesn't have the time or patience for this.

Some players do take very seriously in investigating and reporting (either checking internal files, checking every object/item, etc.). And maybe a handful get past "Awaiting Additional Reports" but since it is the (supposed) year of Bug Fixes, I think some of us are trying to report what we can, and cross our fingers XP

  • I know they merge similar posts together. So the report you made may have looked almost identical to an older, yet unresolved, report it was merged to. As for the other aspect, it appears forum rules were broken and a moderator took an action they deemed appropriate.

  • You can try to appeal the move, but honestly that usually doesn't work if they still think it was a valid move.

But yeah, they try to merge duplicate/similar reports. Or they just move it to feedback, and it is very frustrating.
