They had this in Sims 3 and for the most part it worked well but some were just insane lol. I like the ability to make our own roofs as I find it way more flexible but it takes practice. I find the circle or octogonal roofs impossible to match up though.
You are right about Sims 3 roofs and auto roofs! I never liked it.
I personally Don't want auto roofs because it screws up the whole build.
Maybe I am misremembering, but wasn't the auto roof optional? You could turn it off if you wanted to make your own. It has been a long time so I could be mistaken. Even so, they could put in an auto roof and make it optional. Off by default. It would give them a 100% win across the board :)

some people who doesn't want these can toggle that option off while some people can do auto-roof who aren't good at making roofs with that option turned on with the toggle option👍
it will be a win-win for both parties😉😉
