Can we have a multi-functional lot type?

I'm glad things got added in the game and i remembered from last year i've asked for the business lots (both when living there at the same time and the seperate business lot type) and my wish came out

We have "for rent" to create multiple residental rental lots (it's buggy though)

But how about a multi-functional lots, meaning having all of these combined? (and community lots like a lounge, bar, library etc) maybe even the university lot type

Maybe even better you can run your own business (Get To Work, Dine Out, Cats & Dogs, For Rent and Businesses and Hobbies if not mistaken)

All of these in 1 lot and the venue type is unlimited too

I do think lot trait wise similar to "For Rent" they should seperate them

What kind of story you have in mind based on all of these

It will be a wish coming true if something like that happens!

You need multiple packs for these but i bet they can work on it, i'm sure of it!

It can be an option and call the venue type "multi-functional" or something so you can add each venue types to your likings!

So what do you think?

  • sailorleontine I'm interested to see how Adventure Awaits is going to bring possibilities for Custom Venues. I don't know if it's going to be the kind of multifunctional lots some of us have wanted for a while but it looks interesting.

  • What I always wanted and the closest was basically town centers in Sims 3, like the top village in Monte Vista, or the square in Midnight Hollow (I even cloned the center 64x64 rabbit hole to a build). So you can get that tight city center feel, but it worked in Sims 3 cause it was open world. For Sims 4 they'd need the largest lot (or maybe even make a new larger size), so we can basically make town squares with multiple venues (lot types), residential on one lot for a faux open world feel.

This would probably require it's own small world that is basically a neighbourhood with a large or oversized lot,  and maybe several residential lots surrounding it. But imagine a cute cottage square like in CoL, but no rabbit holes, and all functional buildings. The pub, functional market stalls, shops, and residential apartments/homes—without ever having to leave the lot. Or an urban city center, a magic world with a Hogwarts or Diagon alley type feel,  a carnival lot with rides, games and living trailers/caravans, etc.

So multi-functional lots would work perfect with this concept.

edit: I'd also love it if we could assign a room/door to a a rabbithole, so it can look like a Sim is going to work for non-active careers. I use to amass large city center lots as functional hangouts but put rabbitholes in the basements so Sims constantly were coming and going.

i know The Sims 3 isn't my style but the buildings looks so cool and agreed, we need bigger lot size than 64x64 to build something very big, like a big rich house or just in real life you visit the community lot while people lives above the community

I love your ideas with all of these too

A multi-functional lot is so needed for sure

I tried something similar to that in Newcrest HollownessDevour but you're right about the lack of open world affecting things. In Bridgeview I've got an open air mall with a food court, a row of gift shops and an ice rink which is supposed to be like the town square of Newcrest. Then I've got some artisan stores and a bar on the other lots. In Ridgeline Drive I've got an open air roller rink and coffee bar centrally, then department stores, a kids play castle and a water park. But obviously without an open world each lot has to be loaded so you lose that feel of having a day out in the neighbourhood.

  • i just had a thought: how about a stuff or game pack which comes with multi-lot type😊😊?

unless the team can create a Expansion Pack without adding a new world but i highly doubt that (i want a big Expansion Pack without getting the world involved, similar to Seasons)

it may nothing be like the most wanted wishlist which involves hotels but we can atleast create one ourself😜😜

it complement with like each of the packs, you can own the businesses (and maybe you can even own the pet, restaurant, retail, business etc at the same time) very well

a multi-community, multi-residental (rental) and multi businesses in 1 lot

    how cool is that😇😇? kind of a multi-functional lot😇😇

the closest one i could think about venue type is "residental rental" (For Rent) and the "business" (Businesses and Hobbies) lot types but it's still missing a real hotel there

unless of course the team can create a pack that comes with a world you can create hotels in any world (that will be cool too of course)

doesn't specifically has to be a hotel but i want to build stuff to my likings and i bet the others wants this too😊😊👏

If they did a non-hotel multi-functional lot as a pack, it could be called something like "Community Living" it could range from downtown city communities, sub-urban communities and rural/estate communities. It would allow multiple community lot types, residential lot(s), NPC traffic amounts (high for city to low for rural), maybe even changing decor phases (seasonal if seasons, like seasonal festival lots in Sims 3), so the common areas could change and fluctuate.

Maybe a self maintaining consumables in businesses/community lots for those who don't want to run a business. Like harvest inspired menus/displays, holiday inspired menus/displays, or just themed menus/displays. I'd love it if even just every few days a bakery changed displays but always had stock (no empty shelves/displays), for immersion.

Basically, a builder planned environment that a player doesn't have to constantly edit/update/restock, unless they want to have a business amongst other business environments they don't run also. I use to make lots in Sims 3 with fruit/vegetable stands, NPC run registers (consignment and alchemy consignment), and the MH retail shelves/registers all on the same lot so it looked like a bustling community, when my Sim consign items or visit lots, but all the food displays would keep going empty which was annoying as I was visiting the lot and not owning it/running it.

oh i love all of your ideas about this idea, probably even better than mine haha😇😇

we can have things for everyone and we can create a great storyline there and it will be usefull if you're doing some certain challenges you have to survive life

like maybe a sim who's desperate for food in days or something so this sim finally found some random house it can sleep in even if it's only temporary

we can create our own storylines with this multi-functional lot pack idea

the ideas are endless with this multi-functional lot pack idea haha😊😊👍

  • I do believe this could at least in part be achieved by venue-lot traits. So you have a lot trait that says "pool" and everything that is true for pools, now apply to this lot as well. Or a lot trait "bar" that makes bars functional and people use it as they do normal bars. If you at the same time made sure stalls were always functional on community lots, and you added a few more slots for the lot trait (5 perhaps) you should be able to do most things.

And yes, I do realise that the new customisable venue is a bit like a multifunctional lot, but I want to be able to achieve this without a set schedule. I want kids that pay in the playground that is outside the library, that also has a café and where NPC uses all the objects as intended without a set schedule for when to do what.
