I agree that some trees look a bit messy, and I noticed that when a sim has kids with more than one partner, the game might make one spouse the parent to all that sim's kids. Maybe it gets too much to program with multiple partners - no big deal, as most trees look pretty much correct.
I've learned hat when watching a messy tree, it ca sometmes be useful t click another sim, to get a slightly different version of the same tree - way more tidy. I never used the in game trees a lot, built my own system, but I love that we can zoom in/out and that the trees are way bigger now. With dynesties and nobles there will be even more info.
You built your own system, which tells me the family tree is not good. The new version is horrible for someone like me, who plays for a long time and I use the family tree quite often. I played this DLC for about 5 minutes and am already so annoyed about it.
