Enclosed yards and dogs.

When you have an enclosed yard (completely fenced in, with a gate) and you don't want the dog to go off the property, it wont go. I understand that it registers as being inside,  but can we fix that? I want to be able to lock the gate and keep my dogs on the property, and let them use the bathroom. With the new update that added in home stores and stuff you could change what was employee, residence, and public. Can we have that same mechanic for pets. Choosing where they can do their business?

  • Couldn't you just use the option on the gate to lock the gate from letting pets out?

  • I've not noticed it registering as inside unless you attach the fence to the house. A fence all the way around the outside of the lot should be fine - or if on a narrow lot and you want to use the house as one boundary, maybe try only using fence on two sides so it's not fully enclosed, and block the back with hedges or something.

  • My sims dogs don't leave the lot when it's not fenced in. Maybe your dog has independent or adventurous trait or something similar in which case I think they will leave even when the lot is fenced in. When they run away because of neglect, they do so even when the gate is locked.  You could maybe fence in the front yard, where other sims come in, and leave the backyard unfenced. So doggie can go out and do his business in the back yard.  And other sims won't come into your lot through the font yard either.
