This new "feature" is ridiculous, I have been playing sims since 2000 and I will not play the sims 4 anymore, EA cares more about getting your money than they do about user experience; EA has ruined the sims franchise and clearly does not care to change.
In addition to posting about your frustration about this here, I recommend posting on The Sims social media as well. They like to send unhappy people here so that they don't look bad on social media where the average consumer can see them, so post here, on the Sims Direct twitter, the main Sims twitter, TikTok, Discord, and whatever else they have, if you're in the position to do so. It'll put more pressure on them to listen and make the necessary changes.
