[FR] [CHEAT] Unable to increase rental unit cap

Like why cant they add it back? The game is literally worse than ever, This is my final sign to quit playing

Even if they want to keep the cheat removed, they should at least increase the number of units from six. What's the point in an apartment expansion if you can't make a true apartment complex? I'm someone who used to build like 20+ units with no glitches. It would save slower by a couple of minutes, but I was fine with that. Honestly I just built an apartment complex of 4floors with 4 apartments on each floor. What's the point in all of my work now?

So theres no way to fix the glitch and bring back rental cap increase cheat?

Having a similar issue. Did testingcheats true, then did bb.increaserentalunitcap on and hit enter. It just shrinks the cheat code bar to a single line. When I click on a room and go to the dropdown menu to make it a new unit, the option for + Create Unit is greyed out and unselectable. No CC is active.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we’re removing the bb.increaserentalunitcap Residential Rental Unit cheat in an upcoming update, as a preventative step while broader fixes are developed."

Though they also state: "We’re also tracking any potential links to specific expansion packs or objects, though corruption reports predate packs like The Sims 4 For Rent."

It's really frustrating. I want this cheat back more than anything. When For Rent was released, I began buying all Sims 4 DLC, and I stopped after the November 4th update when they removed this cheat. Completely ruined the game. I keep following for updates on this, hoping they add the cheat back soon - I basically gave up playing and started playing other games again.

I have tried multiple times at different points (in manage worlds, selecting the building, and just in Build/buy) to lift the rental unit cap in For Rent to increase the number of units on one lot. Every time I type it in it doesn't register the cheat and the unit cap stays on. If this is purposely limited or removed that's fine but I wasn't aware of that so I worry it's a bug. I have the command I type in after enabling cheats (as you can see testingcheats true worked fine)

Hi, this cheat code was mentioned by the Sims Team in the sims-direct channel (Discord) on October 2, 2025:

'We're removing the Residential Rental Unit cheat, bb.increaserentalunitcap, in an upcoming update, as a preventative step while broader fixes are developed. While we take player agency seriously, out of an abundance of caution, this step is needed to mitigate its potential risk.'

As such, it is currently unavailable.
