The house is a simple two bedroom, one bathroom, hothouse room for plants and dining room (residential). I keep it single level, simply decorated and the business is nothing more than a single library room attached by a front veranda (public) and back veranda(Employee). The business is the front door of the house. Everything is raised off the floor and accessible by stairs. My *alertz burglar alarm keeps becoming disarmed for no apparent reason sometimes, there seems to be no way to turn it back on.
Sims usually use the table closest to the stove/fridge to eat so I usually put the dining table close by, either in the kitchen or dining room. However, if there is a porch outside with a dining table and that is closer, sims will choose to eat outside even in pouring rain and even if it means circling the entire lot to get to it. If you have University EP, you could try getting a cleaning bot to help with cleaning trash and books. House bins need to be emptied in the wheelie trash bins or the dust bins that came with Eco Lifestyle EP. Maybe you forgot to put one of those on the lot. I like to use the Eco trash bin that gives you 10 simoleons every time you put something in it, because it does not need to be emptied. I thought they fixed the cleaning of puddles outside.

I'm guessing that some of the returning bugs (table dissociation, puddle mopping, weird bins) might be related to haunted houses or business packs (or maybe because I combined them). Before I opened the business everything was pretty standard weird. I was thinking about adding a block of flats too;, glad I decided against it! x)
I think that the *alertz Burglar Alarm is definitely because of hauntings cutting the power. It can be sidestepped by adding solar panels to the roof.

I have no idea about the burglar alarm. Now that you mention it, I don't think I have seen the burglar after they initially released him. 😂 Not sure if the alarm prevents him from showing up or if there is a bug. The haunted house lot trait does make lights to flicker, maybe that affects the alarm too but I don't think it would prevent it from working entirely.
