How about a "Grumpy" trait?
I feel that there's a bit of an open niche with our current selection of traits: ordinary grumbly grumpy Sims. Classic curmudgeons
Let's go over options we currently have, and why I feel like they don't quite fill that particular niche-
- "Hot-Headed" Sims are too angry and explosive
- "Grouch" Sims are too malicious
- "Gloomy" Sims are just sad
- "High-Maintenance" Sims are too sensitive and just prone to wild overreactions
- "Loner" Sims aren't all that grumpy, just shy and anxious around strangers
- "Hates Children" is too specific, and also too malicious
- "Evil" Sims aren't exactly grumpy; they've just embraced the over-the-top cartoon villain life
- "Macabre" Sims are just eccentric people with morbid interests
- "Mean" is just mean
So now that I've gone over that, here are some ideas I had about what a "Grumpy" Sim could be like-
- They would roll wants to use a specific "Complaint" interaction with other Sims ("complain about weather", "complain about local youths", "complain about [holiday]", etc.)
- Their priority to autonomously use "Complaint" interactions would be higher than average
- Using "Complaint" interactions would give them a Happy moodlet
- They could sometimes get a Tense (or Uncomfortable) moodlet when interacting with Cheerful Sims, stronger than "Cheered to Death" (maybe the moodlet could be gained by talking to Sims with other traits as well, like Cringe, Childish, Goofball, etc.)
- They could be able to "Grumble to Self" as a self-interaction when feeling Tense or Angry, which could help them get over the Tense/Angry moodlets faster. It could also give them a Happy moodlet, either the same one they get for complaining to others or a different one
- They could get a Tense (or Angry) moodlet if another Sim talks to them for too long while they're performing a task, wanting the other Sim to stop distracting them
- Being pranked would make them Tense or Angry
- "Funny" interactions may be a little less likely to succeed when used on them by other Sims, with the chance being even lower if the Grumpy Sim is feeling Tense, Angry, or Uncomfortable
Alternatively, if "Grumpy" isn't unique enough, "Curmudgeon" could also be a great name. Whatever it's called, I think this has the potential to be a fun trait. We can use it to make grumpy characters who legitimately find joy in complaining about things, which I think is something new
