Making lots seedy vs classy

If I want to create a shabby, run down diner with cheap food and paint peeling off the walls... I can do that, but then I'll have Judith Ward and Victor Feng visiting which is pretty immersion-breaking.

I wish there was a way to mark lots as "seedy" vs "normal" vs "classy" (or similar) and a way to select which lots a particular sim is willing to frequent. For townies, it could be assigned automatically based on their career level, or the amount of money they have, or traits.

This could be a neat way to have poor and rich areas in our neighbourhoods, frequented accordingly by sims who would naturally visit these neighbourhoods. It could be a neat way to roleplay a social climber, or a rich sim who enjoys slumming.

  • @wayward_daugther I think this is an excellent idea. It could even be based on the value of the lot, though I would prefer it to be a setting we could choose manually. Otherwise Judith Ward and Nancy Landgraab are *everywhere*
  • @wayward_daugther this is a great idea! It would better reflect real life (though there are rich celebrities who do frequent a favorite "greasy spoon" if the food is really good or if it was a favorite back before they got rich and famous. 😉)  But overall, it doesn't make much sense to keep having so many fancy celebrities show up at all types of venues when in real life most would avoid these places.

  • I LOVE this idea. It would be cool to have the rich teen sneak off to try to hang out with the "poor" kids to rebel and vice versa

@BriteRedScream And if you're in the "wrong" sort of lot - rich or famous on a shabby lot or poor and unknown on a fancy lot - you could have a chance at getting an uncomfortable "fish out of water" moodlet. But an adventurous sim's version of the "fish out of water" moodlet would be energized!

@BriteRedScream Yes! Such good ideas from you and @PipMenace here.

I also remember TS2 Apartment Life having something similar actually - a social class system based on lot value. That would be a great start, but setting it manually would be ideal!

@PipMenace , I really like this idea!👏🏻  @wayward_daugther , I remember that in The Sims 2! 😊 Too bad the Apartment Life EP was at the end of TS2's run, or we could have gotten more use out of it!

  • I would love this. Add them as lot traits that would automatically deter away people with certain incomes/celebrity status, and have it similar to City Living with mice running around too.
