Option to disable random NPC generation and choose role Townies
With 20 expansions and dozens of game and stuff packs, our games are now overflowing with Sims. In my opinion, we do not need the game to constantly generate random new Sims. It would be much better if Sims with specific traits or high skill levels could automatically fill roles like bartenders, yoga instructors, and so on.
We already have pre-made Sims included with packs that have specific roles, such as the teachers and principal in High School Years, the stall owners in Henford, or the mayor. It is also not unusual to see mermaids running food stalls in Island Living, or other existing Sims working as bartenders and fitness instructors in the gym.
My proposal is for developers to add a toggle switch to completely disable automatic NPC generation. Instead, the game should assign these roles to pre-made Sims from that specific pack. For example, Sims from Spa Day could do massages or yoga classes, and Sims from Dine Out could work as chefs or waiters. Alternatively, the game could assign roles based on traits and skills. A burglar role could be filled by an existing Sim with the kleptomaniac and evil traits, gardeners could be Sims who love outdoors, or teenagers like Baby Ariel could work as babysitters.
If that is not enough, they could give us the option to choose how to fill these roles, like pulling Sims from our own library, downloading them from the Gallery, or creating them on the spot. For instance, when you visit the Magic Realm or Forgotten Hollow, the game should use the iconic Sims from the official trailers with their actual lore, instead of spawning random elders and weirdly dressed townies. When a role NPC dies, a popup menu could appear, similar to the feature in Life and Death, asking us how we want to replace them or allowing us to choose a replacement from our settings.
I am tired of constantly going into Neighborhood Stories to delete random Townies every time my Sims travel or open a retail business. I am always afraid of losing my own Sims because the game automatically deletes households when there are too many. This culling mechanism unfortunately eliminates my unplayed Sims as well, completely breaking my family trees.
