Re: Please make burnout optional

@IrisuChan Have you noticed any Burnout with any of the Jungle Adventure tasks? I haven't done any authentication work, etc since I added Growing Together and I'm really hoping it's not affected by Burnout 🤞.

@simsplayer818 Is it a creative type task, or mental? From what I gather, creative solves burnout, while mental type tasks add to it. I haven't played much with the Jungle Adventure tasks yet so I'm not sure myself (although I did put Lara Croft in my game for this purpose, lol).

@LadyAofPineapplethere are a few elements to the archaeology aspect of the pack. There's the excavation and then the analysis of Omiscan Artifacts. It's physical and mental I suppose, it definitely drains their fun but I hope they don't get burnout too, I've got 2 Jungle Adventure explorers to add soon.

Edit: it does indeed affect the Jungle Adventure pack. It doesn't seem to happen when excavating dig sites but it does affect authentication of Artifacts. So all I'm doing to limit it is to just do the dirt clump stage then stop the process halfway once the artifact is out of the dirt clump and then send the item off for analysis.

Unfortunately it means my Sim can't work from home analysing artifacts through the mail like she used to and she also can't use this method for skill gain either. How disappointing. It's really spoiling the game now. We need a way to mitigate the effects or we're losing important parts of the game. There is no upside to this feature at all.

@LadyAofPineapple Unfortunately, I think both types exist - too many creative tasks in a row causes creative burnout which is "solved" by mental actions and too many mental tasks creates mental burnout which is "solved" by creative actions. Plus exercise maybe helps with both. I don't mind so much that it makes you need a bit of balance in your Sim's life, but what annoys me is how quickly it triggers and how the actions to "solve" it don't actually help at all as the timer will immediately jump back up to where it was before as soon as the supposedly "helpful" action finishes.

I think you can avoid burnout by turning off Lifestyles in the Game Options. Of course, that means you'll also have to give up the things you might like about Lifestyles, so it's not a simple decision. I haven't seen anyone else mention this, so I thought I should toss it in, just in case it helps someone.

You're probably right, and I'm probably wrong. I thought burnout was caused by the Workaholic lifestyle, but I turned off lifestyles a long time ago. I don't have Growing Together, so I don't know what comes with that pack.

@Sketch793 and @GiardiniDiMarzo  Burnout does indeed arrive with Growing Together, there should be a little Sim health warning on the pack!

I turned off Lifestyles a while ago because of too many negative moodlets so I don't know if there is a similar thing to Burnout with Lifestyles as well. I just know as soon as I added them my Sims were miserable until I toggled them off.

I hope the next Expansion Pack has a whole load of new happy moodlets and no more negative ones that we can't get rid of 😭. Let's have some lovely positive ones instead, it makes it such a frustrating and annoying experience dealing with suffering Sims trudging around whimpering to themselves or looking dazed.

As I know burnout happen less often with the lifestyle Workaholic. I turned too Lifestyles off and only tried it for the family fortune scenario, still annoying as I remember (so you not alone with this mindset simsplayer). Generally, we should not need a feature from another DLC to make burnout less annoying. This is just wrong. Give them player an option to play without this feature or to remove it instantly.

I think the team always forget we have a reward store, simply add a Potion which remove burnout/fog instantly or add a trait which make the sim immune to burnout. So, no need to remove or nerving a feature to dead and all parties are happy.

  • @daikoyuYou're absolutely right, a reward potion would be great and we have them for so many other things it makes sense to have one for Burnout.
Or at least make the Moodlet Solver work for Burnout because I was so disappointed when it made no difference at all.

Edit: Even the Outdoor Retreat herbal remedies don't help. I was certain I'd had a brilliant idea and tried the Clear Mind Distillation (I think that's it's name) after it worked following a rocket ship crash landing on my dazed Sim...but it does not work for Burnout.

I was going to get Growing Together until I found out about the burnout. It would be nice to have a toggle button
