How old of a PC and was it made specifically for gaming? My gaming laptop is very powerful and can handle the game just fine. My desktop, which is almost 8 years old also can handle the game, but it was built by my spouse with gaming in mind. From your description here, it sounds like you are trying to play a resource heavy game on a computer that was never meant for gaming.

The computer is maybe around 5 years old, give or take. Yes, the computer was specifically made so I could play the Sims. Yes, my computer was built by my husband who basically babysits world wide servers and knows computers. No, I'm not computer savvy, but do play the sims. I don't use mods, or CC.

It sounds like it wasn't really built with gaming in mind, or you have too much bloatware running in the background. My advice is to try playing around with the graphics settings. Lowering that can improve performance. While our desktop can play on ultra, my laptop runs better on on high. You might also limit what packs you play with per save. Disabling some packs helps too. My only other advice is to see what other programs are running in the background. For example, I uninstalled copilot on ALL our computers because it is never utilized and considered bloatware. I also uninstalled the xbox feature on my laptop, since it is never used. If your computer is still having issues, it may need to go back to windows 10 operating system. Windows 11 takes so much extra resources to run on older computers and can make them crash easily.

Btw, my comments on easy ways to improve performance are not meant to be dismissive. I am also not so computer savvy, but my husband did help me by suggesting ways to troubleshoot issues which I had when the game was freezing up on my laptop. I do play with very minimal CC and only like 5 mods. My only other advice it to use the repair game on the EA launcher or to uninstall and reinstall the game. There have been some patches where that was the only way to fix issues I personally encountered. With resource heavy games like Sims 4, you do need take into consideration what runs in the background while you play the game.
