Sims 4 Remastered?

Hi everyone, longtime Sims player here. I’ve recently seen the rumors about a possible remaster, and I’m feeling pretty anxious about what that could mean for our existing content, saves, and households. I’ve invested a lot into this game over the years, slowly saving up to purchase every DLC and kit, so the idea of losing access or having to repurchase everything is really overwhelming.

A bit of personal context: I struggle with severe depression and anxiety, and The Sims has always been a major source of comfort for me — a way to decompress, escape, and feel in control when real life feels heavy. Because of that, reading the recent article on The Sims Community page honestly sent me into a spiral. The thought of starting over or paying again for content I’ve already bought would be devastating for my mental health, especially after already dealing with so many bugs and troubleshooting issues lately.

I know some people will say “it’s just a game” or “it’s not that deep,” and I hear that often whenever I express frustration. But for many of us, it is deeper than that. I really hope EA provides some clarity and puts these rumors to rest, because launching a “new game” that requires repurchasing everything would be, in my opinion, a serious mistake. What are everyone else’s thoughts?

As with many counselors, like myself, we are seeing a significant rise in anxiety, depression, etc. So, first, I do sincerely hope you are seeking counsel to help you with all you are going through. As for the game, I too enjoy "escaping" into a fun game from time to time to play and help ease the tensions of the day, taking our minds off ourselves and life for a bit.

EA had once made a promise to us players that they were going to scrub the Sims 5 or Project Rene, as they realized how much money, time, and yes... even emotions we poured into our games creating generations that we don't wish to loose.

This too is the concern of others, so you are not entirely alone here. While these are just a game, if we only paid like... IDK... maybe $20.00 or even $40.00 it wouldn't be such a big deal. But when hundreds or even a thousand has been poured into these games to build up all we have for a more fun and cherished experience... for many of us... that is not something small to dismiss altogether. So, while it is encouraging to see that EA is hearing the players who have been pleading for an open world and cars in our games. There are those of us who wish to keep going with what we have. With EA now exchanging hands with ownership, maybe that promise of keeping the Sims 4 may no longer be?? or they still might uphold that promise. I don't know. Only time will tell.

Either way, as much as we love our sims and our games, and while for some these games can be healing in its own right, please beloved... don't give this game that much power for your happiness and well being. Reclaim your power and know you are more capable than this game alone can provide. Just allow the game to be what it is... a source of temporary fun and entertainment.

  • I saw this yesterday and it made me wonder if this is what is in store for the next base game update to the game due on Dec. 2nd. There have been NO hints whatsoever about this new update until this rumor hit the internet yesterday.

  • My hope is that remastering the Base Game will not make it incompatible with the - over 100 - TS4 add-ons. It doesn't really make sense otherwise. Both EA and Simmers have invested heavily in TS4. Why ditch all of that?

But, it worries me, too. I enjoy the distraction my Sims provide. I've put a lot of time and thought into my game. The idea of losing all of that is distressing. I hope we will not. We'll just have to wait and see. Wait and hope.

  • I was like this too but I found other sources and most say the article is misleading, a small portion is true like they're in discussion about it but majority of the article is just in fact a rumor.
