So many updates, but no Sims 5

This game is old. I really, really hope EA just stops adding content to it. It has way too much to begin with, and the recent additions are really just reskins of previously existing items that have no alternative function whatsoever.

They push out updates on this 10+ year old game every month or so, and these update break numerous mods. Then, the players have to wait for mod makers to come up with updates in order to play the game. A game this old has so much mod content out there.

They've released 2 large DLC packs since summertime.. both costing $35. And even if we don't buy these DLCs, the game forces big updates, the Lovestruck one completely reimagined relationship mechanics even for players without the DLC. I'm dreading the next week because I know the life and death update will break so many things, it will probably be Thanksgiving before my game works again.

At this point.. they've completely reimagined much of what the Sims 4 was initially on release, why do that when they could just leave the game as it is and make a totally new, Sims 5?

@ImaBurrito Honestly, I'm glad that Sims 4 is continuing and I don't have the same problem with it as I did with Sims 3. And I'm also glad that they're releasing the patches. Yes, I understand that everyone probably doesn't want to wait for mod creators to release updates, but that's just the way it is... I understand that not everyone may like it. Now there are just so many things that got me more into the game that weren't in Sims 3. I'm really looking forward to the new addition.

@LTasare I see your point and hope I didn't come off as hating on the game, i love it, its prob my favorite game tbh, and knowing me, i will prob buy the DLC by end of year. I'm just saying, like theres so many redundant features and the DLCs seem to just rehash old stuff making things pointless. For example, with the magic DLC why would i ever use my sims life rewards to purchase the Young Again potion, when i can just craft it- and now with the Life or Death DLC, that potion will become even less useful. Things like, they have Simstagram social network, AND social bunny, AND Trendi, AND if you pick streamer as a career, there's that "Side hustle" social networking interaction, which causes the follower count to glitch out. It just feels like they've packed 3 different games into one sometimes.
  • I agree! Its not even that the game is old, its just at this point they obviously need another shot at recoded and re-imagined base systems that aren't fighting with ideas coded into base game over a decade ago. I also hate the idea the packs you've bought so far is "lost". No it isn't. I played Sims 3 two weeks ago and 1 year from now I could jump back on that same save even if I hadn't touched it in a year. Nothing was lost.

I know people hate the idea of a shop, but at this point...just make a bloody shop for cosmetics! So many people admit to buying the packs JUST for the cosmetic. Instead they take either half-baked or remixed ideas and throw them into an "EP" and then add enough bloat to justify EP price. And often this bloat needs to change something in the code so even if you don't buy the pack you have to deal with the affects on the base game code and whatever associated packs you do own.
