Unfortunately Sims' moodlets aren't targeted - so a Sim who's flirty from being with their soulmate will then flirt with every other adult sim they come across until they're no longer flirty. A sim who's angry from insults by one sim will go on to insult everyone they meet. And so on... I do wish the game was a bit smarter about targeted emotions.
