Maxis probably keep it that way because of laptop.
I'm also pretty sure the maker of the more CAS columns mod said it's not perfect and still causes UI issues.
All they have to do is move the sim slightly to the left and let the columns expand to the right side and I mean all the way to the right side of the screen.
Just look at all the wasted space on the left.
Just look how much space the curved categories are wasting.
And more columns could simply be optional. Let us decide how many more columns we want. Who cares if laptop users can only display two? Sucks for them. Doesnt mean everybody with a proper pc should suffer like them.
Its absurd how incompetent these people are when it comes to user friendly interfaces. Ten years and they still cant fix what modders did in a lazy afternoon.
Unfortunately, the left side has a drop down menu that would cover up the sim when opened with your suggestion. I predict they do not want the sim to be covered up by the drop down menu on the left side. I do use the mod that allows for more columns, but it can mess with the UI and doesn't always look great. Btw, I play on both a gaming laptop and desktop and the gale looks the same.
Laptop users are just as important as PC players, we are all equals here. No one is below another person just because they use a Laptop.
