Suggestion: A 'Dress to Impress' Mode for The Sims 4
Last year, "Dress To Impress," a game created by a 17-year-old girl on the Roblox platform, became a global phenomenon. The concept is simple: you're given random themes and a limited time to create a fitting look. Afterward, you walk the runway for other players, and everyone rates each other's outfits with stars.
People became obsessed with the chance to feel like a contestant on "RuPaul’s Drag Race" for a day. The game was so successful that it even launched an official collaboration with singer Charli XCX to promote her album "Brat" (2024). However, over time, the gameplay started to feel repetitive. Even with frequent updates and new items, the creative possibilities remain limited—for example, the models only come in one thin body type.
On the other hand, we have "The Sims 4" (2014), a life simulation game that has been active for a decade (the longest-running in the franchise's history) and likely has many more years to go. According to leaks, EA intends to make this the "definitive version" of the franchise, with no plans for a successor.
But can a life simulator survive for so long on updates alone? I think it's time for EA to start thinking outside the box and innovate by introducing new gameplay modes.
While "Dress To Impress" is limited in its items and character customization, that's far from an issue in "The Sims 4." So, why not create something similar within the game? The type of player interested in "Dress To Impress" is very similar to the "The Sims" player base. EA is sitting on a golden opportunity—they just need to act on it.
