Simple Base Game Addition: A Basic Vase for Displaying Collectible Flowers

I was looking at the base game plant collection and realized there's a simple but frustrating gap in our ability to actually enjoy one of the core collectibles. We can find the flowers, but we can't properly display them without relying on specific packs.

What area of gameplay is your feedback about?

  • Collections (Plants/Flowers)
  • Base Game Objects / Decor

What works well right now?
The base game includes a fun little plant collection with 9 different flowers to find, like the Orchid and the Bird of Paradise. The act of exploring worlds to find and harvest these rare plants is a nice, simple collecting goal. The flowers themselves are beautiful and would make perfect decorative items for a Sim's home.

What isn’t working or feels frustrating?
The frustration is that there is no way to display a single flower in a vase in the base game. The only vases available are thorough crafting. Either part of the flower arranging skill from the Seasons expansion pack, the pottery skill from the Businesses & Hobbies expansion pack or are bouquets from My Wedding Stories. This means that a player who only owns the base game can collect these 9 unique flowers, but they have no legitimate way to place them on a table or shelf as decoration. The only option is to leave them as a stack in your inventory or sell them, which makes the collection feel pointless from a decorative standpoint.

What new ideas or improvements would you suggest?
The solution is very straightforward: Add a simple, basic vase to the base game in Buy Mode.

This vase would function similarly to the ones from Businesses & Hobbies, but without requiring the player to craft it. The interaction could be simple:

  • A Sim purchased an empty vase from build mode.
  • They then select a single flower from their inventory to place in it.
  • The vase's appearance would change to show the chosen flower.

We don't need complex flower arranging; just the ability to put one flower in one vase. A single vase object with multiple states (one for each of the 9 base game flowers) would be perfect.

Why would this improve your gameplay experience?
This small addition would have a big impact on base game gameplay and aesthetics.

  • Gives Purpose to the Collection: It would provide a satisfying reason to hunt for the flowers beyond just completing a checklist. You could create a beautiful windowsill display of your botanical finds.
  • Adds Base Game Decor: It would introduce a classic, timeless decorative item that is surprisingly missing from the core game. Vases are a staple of home decor.
  • Improves Accessibility: It would ensure that all players, regardless of which packs they own, can enjoy the full cycle of collecting and displaying these items.
  • Simple and Logical: It fixes an obvious inconsistency where the game gives you collectible flowers but no way to show them off. It just makes sense.

It's a small, easily implemented object that would complete a base game feature and add a touch of simple beauty to every household.

  • Yes, please! I would love a small vase that can display upto 3 flowers, a short small one for flowers like bluebells and snowdrops (could be a cup), and one that's a bit taller for roses and lilies and other long stemmed flowers, in the manner of the single rose vase you get from dates. Would be great if they don't make it disproportionately large like the ones in Businesses and Hobbies.

  • I'd wouldn't mind if it went as small as a bud vase that holds a single flower.  But I'll be honest not only do I want this I would honestly love a Refresh of Flower Arranging so we have a lot of new things t do with it.

I thought about a flower arranging refresh but that requires the Seasons pack or a new pack. Plus, Sims would have to build the skill to unlock the different vases or use cheats. They would also have to buy a crafting table or have one accessible on a community lot. What I'm looking for is a simple build mode solution where I can buy a vase and put flowers inside of it to display in the home.

I couldn't agree more! It would be wonderful to easily get vases, and being able to casually display flowers would make for such a romantic and lovely interior!
