[Survey] Player to Player—where are we at?

We do not get to see the EA/Sim Developer survey results (I really wish we would/could). We do not know that the actual majority of the Simmer base is asking for. But would you like to know where the other Simmers stand/are at, at this stage of Sims 4?

What gameplay themes are your priority 1-10 (1 being priority and 10 being lowest or no priority)?

  • Modern and regular everyday life (more family, children and modern/regular activities/lifestyles)
  • Modern and better than reality life (vacation/travel, business/career based, extreme activities and luxury lifestyles)
  • Modern with minor fantasy elements (not really occults, more like wishing wells, kissing frogs, etc.)
  • Modern with fantasy elements (occults in the modern world like Harry Potter, vampire/werewolf pop culture books/tv/movies, etc.)
  • Era and regular everyday to better than reality life (Victorian, Bridgeton inspired, Medieval, etc.)
  • Era with minor fantasy elements
  • Era with fantasy elements (steampunk, dragons, etc.)
  • Future with no alien elements
  • Future with minimal alien/fantasy elements (like some "Into the Future" aspects)
  • Future with alien/fantasy elements (Utopia ideal technology, Dystopia survival, space travel/living, etc.)

What life stages are your priority?

What life states are your priority?

Out of the most recent EPS (Business & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits and Royalty & Legacy). How would you rate their themes in a grade system (even if you didn't get them), to your playstyle?

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?

I just wonder if Simmers are just all over the board, and devs can't make heads or tails of what we want, or if we are more aligned than we think and devs are just not getting our message? Thank you for all who participate, to help give other Simmers insight.

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?

Autonomy with Traits/Personality.  You can basically be a traitless Sim and it mean very little in autonomy vs. a thought-out trait combination. Autonomy and traits needs an overhaul!

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?

RoM and spellcasters with L&D, CoL, CCSP, PSP, EbN and R&L (maybe even Lovestruck (for relationship complexity)/SE (lifestyles)). Really have made a game more in depth to the type of fantasy storytelling, and theme I want to play.

What life stages are your priority?

I guess it would be YA.

What life states are your priority?

I always focus on human sims first. I will play aliens, vampires, and werewolves on occasion though.

Out of the most recent EPS (Business & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits and Royalty & Legacy). How would you rate their themes in a grade system (even if you didn't get them), to your playstyle?

From 1-4 with 1 being my top pick:

    1. Royalty & Legacy
    2. Adventure Awaits
    3. Business & Hobbies
    4. Enchanted by Nature

Out of the most recent EPS (Business & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits and Royalty & Legacy). How would you rate their gameplay in a grade system (if you got them (those applicable))?

I don't have any of the newest packs so I can't rate this one.

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?

Two things. Too many different systems that are too similar to previous ones. The UI is too cluttered when all I want to see is my lifetime wish and career goals.

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?

Currently, it is the only game like it that fits my playstyle. While it's not perfect for everything I would want a game like this to be, it's the only one that comes close. Until a new game comes out that allows a similar playstyle, it's my only option.

  • Count me in. I love surveys.

What gameplay themes are your priority 1-10 (1 being priority and 10 being lowest or no priority)?

    1. Modern with fantasy elements (occults in the modern world like Harry Potter, vampire/werewolf pop culture books/tv/movies, etc.)

    8. Era with minor fantasy elements
    9. Future with minimal alien/fantasy elements (like some "Into the Future" aspects)
    10. Future with no alien elements

What life stages are your priority?
I put most focus on young adults and teenagers. Teenagers, because a lot of the gameplay opens up for them, and lets you shape them and guide them how they live. Young adults, because young adults are the most fleshed out life stage, with nearly all options opened up to them.

What life states are your priority?
Spellcasters. I like occults and rarely play non-Occult sims, though Spellcasters get the most attention by far.

Out of the most recent EPS (Business & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits and Royalty & Legacy). How would you rate their themes in a grade system (even if you didn't get them), to your playstyle?
    Business and Hobbies: D+
    Enchanted by Nature: C
    Adventure Awaits: C
    Royalty and Legacy: C+

    Adventure Awaits: C
    Royalty and Legacy: C-

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?
The lack of hobbies. There aren't that many, and so many of them are tied to skills that are very niche (Apothecary, Pet Training, Herbalism, Tattooing), don't have much application (Archery is limited to the archery range and fishing), or can't easily be done on the fly (Bowling, Horse Riding.) I wish we got more Stuff Packs like Nifty Knitting, where they can dedicate everything to a hobby, flesh it out and make it more useful.

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?
    Making sims kiss.

    9. Era and regular everyday to better than reality life (Victorian, Bridgeton inspired, Medieval, etc.)
    10. Future with no alien elements

In general fantasy (minor or regular) over realism out of interest. Modern day over other periods due to game limitations (for example phones and computers)

What life stages are your priority?

This game is heavily geared towards young adults so to get most out of this game I play a lot of young adults/adults.

Most of them end up having infants/toddlers/kids so those are in my game as well. I'm not interested in teens. Why I am finally past the younger stages I want to move onto adulthood. The 'teens' in this games are way to close to adults in looks and gameplay wise

What life states are your priority?

Spellcasters and werewolves are the best. I also like aliens and mermaids. I would like to add fairies as well but their built in hatred for spellcasters makes me avoid them. Vampires, even if they are done excellently just aren't my vibe.

Out of the most recent EPS (Business & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits and Royalty & Legacy). How would you rate their themes in a grade system (even if you didn't get them), to your playstyle?

    • Businesses and hobbies 6/10
    • Enchanted by nature 9/10
    • Adventure Awaits 8/10
    • Royalty and legacy 9/10

    • Enchanted by nature 5/10
    • Adventure Awaits 8,5/10
    • Royalty and legacy 8/10

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?

A lot of systems upon systems upon systems makes this game bloated, especially if new systems are variations of existing ones. New systems should only be implemented with an opt out in the options to avoid overload and let the players choose.

Simulation lag and unresponsive sims are also threaten to make this game unplayable.

The recent pack full of recycled items also makes me more hesitant to buy future content.

The constant quests also have a negative impact on the game. I would have enjoyed the lost legacies event if I could have done that at my own time. But the FOMO puts a pressure on the game that undermines it's laid back nature.

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?

Being able to tell everyday lifestories with a fantasy element or twist. Completing apsirations or achieving things with my sims (top of career, earning speacial traits, completing a collection)

  • What gameplay themes are your priority 1-10 (1 being priority and 10 being lowest or no priority)?

    1. Everyday life with the family.
    2. Gaining Skills and getting promoted.
    3. Fulfilling lifetime wants and the bucket list.
    4. Fulling the Aspirations
    5. Fulfilling Highschool Aspirations with teens and having my own Aspirations is for a teen to be prom royalty and valedictorian.
    6. Discover U Scholarships by fulfilling skills as a kid and teen and then going to school getting a degree or a distinguished degree.
    7. Haven't worked on a kids aspiration from AA but want to.
    8. Joining a club.
    9. Getting an award from get famous
    10. Occults.

What life stages are your priority?

I play with aging off. All of them from the newborn to elder I like to get as many milestones as possible as an infant and milestones and skills as a toddler, get milestones, skills and traits as a child teach not to make messes, teens work on skills for life or for uni. Young Adult either get a job or go to uni work on getting promoted or getting a degree then get a job, start life if they want. Adult same thing. Elder retire and start on the bucket list.

What life states are your priority?

    I don't really have a priority occult.

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?

That we don't have cars in the game it's been over a decade simmers have been asking for cars from the beginning now that EA is taking over the cars are not going to be well done.

That there is no Preteen Lifestage again simmers and myself have been asking for years they give us other packs but some packs are not accepted in the Sims community by simmers.

    The Bugs in this game.

HSY doesn't have football games or you can't interact in the classroom but you can in B&H and have games in DU?

Strollers and Pacifiers for infants and toddlers especially the strollers.

Sicks Sims not going to the hospital like let's go to vets.

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?

Having my Sims experience life in the game from newborn to elder and have a generation.

What life stages are your priority?

    1. Young Adult & Adult
    2. Toddlers & Children (personality develops)
    3. Teens & Elders (both in limbo, sometimes cranky and waiting for the transition)

Elders help with parenting and pass on their skills.  I'd like to play an elder or elder couple that goes around the worlds living their best life.  Don't know why I haven't done that yet.
I've had good and bad teen experiences. I had a teen that formed a grudge with a parent and it wrecked the whole family.  They never recovered.  Hated it.

What life states are your priority?

    1. Spellcasters
    2. Humans / Vampires
    3. Mermaids
    4. Fairies
    5. Ghosts
    6. Werewolves (untried)

I added werewolves about 6 months ago and toggled to keep them in their world.  I like playing occult sims.  But, I can't get into the werewolf form looking like a costume and cartoonish.  The game gave us options to make the vampires look intimidating or ghoulish. It's great!  I'd like to see more variety, snout, teeth, danger for werewolves.

I've used ghosts as nannies or to boost the family income. The afterlife is sort of boring.  I tried having a ghost take revenge but they didn't really enjoy being mean.  lol  I had 2 ghosts find love and get married - they had the same relationship problems as the living.  meh.

Adventure Awaits (love kayaks, archery, playgrounds... Imaginary friends were weird)  B
Enchanted by Nature (love natural living skill... turned off luck / balance)  B
    Royalty & Legacy  - C

What is your biggest beef with Sims 4 at the moment?

Bugs!!  Buy a pack, excited about it then the new items don't work.  Make a bug report and wait months for a fix.
Or loading a new pack and all your relationships fall apart because it didn't integrate well.
Or your sims wife is now their Sister.  Or the married Thruple is now NOT married at all!!
EA Updates & "Optimizations" that cause problems, like photos turning black, paintings white.  It makes players furious and makes EA look unprofessional.  If mod creators can respond to known issues, why can't EA??

What is your biggest draw to Sims 4 at the moment?

Nostalgia and Escapism.  Nostalgia because I played it with my daughter when it started.  It is familiar.  Escape from real life seriousness for a little while to be creative - building or story.  I like playing a family for generations.  I keep a list of gameplay ideas and there are many parts of the game that I still want to explore.  I love the game and want it to continue. I want it to function.
