The Sims 4: Jade Realms Expansion Pack

Hi Simmers and Sims Team!

I’m so excited to share an idea that’s been on my heart for a while — a China-inspired expansion pack blending modern life, ancient culture, and mystical fantasy, all drawn from the beauty of C-dramas. I know the Sims community is incredibly diverse, and I’d love to see more East Asian representation in the game. Whether or not Maxis sees this soon, I hope it inspires conversation and support from others who would love to play in a world like this!

A world where modern cities, ancient legends, and mystical realms collide — inspired by Chinese culture and C-dramas.

New World: Yúnzé (云泽)

Split into three unique neighborhoods, each inspired by a facet of Chinese life and storytelling:

Skyreach District (Modern – Chongqing-Inspired)

> A vibrant urban city of high-rises, street markets, spicy hotpot shops, and neon-lit nightlife.

Explore tea cafés, calligraphy bars, fashion shops

Gameplay: Street food carts, Mahjong tables, modern Chinese fashion trends

NPC Sims wear modern Chinese-inspired outfits (high street + traditional fusion)

Career: Firework Factory Technician (mid-tier career with risky night shifts)

2. Zhongyuan Village (Ancient Xi’an-Inspired)

> A tranquil village with traditional wooden homes, incense gardens, lotus ponds, and an old city wall.

Visit ancestor shrines, temples, and paper lantern festivals

Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year with dumpling cooking, red envelopes, and fireworks

Skills: Calligraphy, Mooncake Baking, Zither Playing (Guzheng)

Career: Matchmaker, with romance-based gameplay mechanics

3. Realm of Xianxia (Hidden World)

> A mystical plane accessed through a shrine portal, where legends live and time stands still.

Magical floating mountains, ancient beasts, glowing plants

Gameplay inspired by xianxia dramas: flight, sword cultivation, spiritual training

Career: Guardian of the Xianxia (you protect balance between mortal and mystical worlds)

Collect: Spirit petals, Phoenix feathers, Immortal scrolls

Festivals & Events

Festival What Happens

Chinese New Year Fireworks, dumpling feasts, lion dances, red envelope gifting

Mid-Autumn Festival Moon-viewing parties, paper lantern wishes, mooncake making

Legends Night (Xianxia only) Spirits walk among mortals — rare collectibles and prophecy-based events

Fashion & CAS

Modern urban fashion inspired by Chinese trends (Hanfu streetwear fusion)

Traditional Hanfu, Qipao, Tangzhuang for formal events. Jade jewellery.

Mystical robes and accessories for xianxia Sims (floating sashes, glowing swords, cloud crowns)

Hairstyles: long flowing styles, ornate braids, jade hairpins.

1. Legacy System: Ancestral Lineage (Cross-Neighborhood Feature)

> Link the present, past, and mystical future of your Sim through generations

New gameplay: Family shrine tracks your ancestry (like a spiritual family tree)

Leave offerings, light incense, or write scrolls to honor ancestors

Dead relatives from Zhongyuan Village may visit during festivals or when honored

Xianxia Realm may “call” your Sim based on their ancestor’s traits or deeds

2. Flight & Light Step (Mystical Abilities in Xianxia Realm)

> Inspired by how characters fly through trees or clouds in Chinese dramas.

Use light-footed sprinting, floating meditation, or cloud-steps

Only available in Xianxia realm after completing “spiritual trials”

Cosmetic-only if EA limits powers, or toggleable like vampire powers

6. New Aspiration Paths

“Balance of Realms” — connect all 3 neighborhoods through spiritual and social choices

“Modern Maven” — rise through a fast-paced Chongqing career while honoring traditions

“Harmony Keeper” — keep peace in your family and community through festivals and rituals

  • Also the hidden realm could be a pack of it's own with its own occult? Guardians of xianxia, different from spellcasters or fairies that would lean into the Chinese legends and myths. They'd need a lot more jewellery!

  • I love Asian inspired worlds, I bought Snowy escape for more Asian inspired: decor, Sims and world (but had little interest in the skills/activities). I loved Shang Simla in Sims 3 too, it was pretty much my favourite world and wished it wasn't a vacation world.

🎆 Would love to play a pack like this! 🎆

Yes! bring back Zodiac signs, both Chinese and astrological versions (Lunar and Sun). Sims could read their daily horoscope on the computer that could bestow a moodlet which affects the rest of their day.

Celebrate Lunar New Year as a calendar event.

Would love to explore the hidden mystical realm you've described for this pack.

Had another idea that would fit with the theme of this pack. Always wished to be able to grow Bamboo as a garden plant where you can harvest Bamboo Shoots for cooked recipes.

Could include making Bamboo crafts using a new Basket Weaving skill (Bambooworking) as well as craft Bamboo furniture on the woodworking table.

    Basket Weaving

    • Hamper
    • Plants - floor, table, hanging, wall
    • Wall Art - Fans, Disks
    • Light fixtures
    • Dishware - Plates, Platters, Bowls
    • Floor Rug
    • Harvest Baskets - Flowers, Produce
    • Picnic Basket
    • Linen Basket
    • Baby Bassinet (functional)
    • Brimmed Hats
    • Woven Sandals
    • Cross-Pack: Fish Trap [Island Living]

    Furniture Making

    • Clothes Rack
    • Water Fountain
    • Divider Screen
    • Bench
    • + Bamboo versions of existing wood crafts.
