With most of the other occults having skill tress and abilities I feel these three have been forgotten. I had hoped the team would have done something with the plant sims with the new pack coming as well as the fairies but maybe they’ll get to it with a base game update towards the release.. but I feel like now that ghost were updated they should go back and fix these occults to match the others that feel more fleshed out.
Mermaids and aliens absolutely need an update. Compared to the other occults, I have no desire to play them because they're so boring. I'm glad plant sims got something with the new expansion pack, but they're still just a buff.
Also another thing I've noticed is that other sims don't even pay attention to the fact that there's mermaids which makes the pie menu interaction "ask if mermaid" really pointless, I mean why keep it all a secret and hush hush if no one cares? Whenever my spellcasters do magic other sims stop and look shocked and played sims have the "is that magic?" in their queue list. My sim changes into a mermaid in front of her new partner and he couldn't care less lol
The big problem with mermaids is that, unlike other occults, their abilities are almost exclusively tied to a very specific environment: the ocean. It's like Aquaman syndrome. You put Aquaman in the ocean and he's got a wide-range of abilities at his disposal. You put him on land, however, and he's just a generic strong guy who looks suspiciously like Jason Momoa.
What the game really needs in order to make mermaids more viable is an underwater Atlantis-inspired world with underwater homes and other venues.
Mermaids need more love, I kinda feel their skills are under utilised in most scenarios especially when they don't live in Sulani. There's no dolphins in San Myshuno for example and lots of interactions for other sims are made to be done in the water 😣 the fishing skills they have are cool though cause they can be used anywhere but most of my mermaids don't like eating their fishy friends so makes it kinda useless.

Plant Sim form needs to be a permanent state. I desperately want to create a music-loving, rocker Plant Sim and name him Spruce Bringsteen.
Yeah, i'm feeling pretty snubbed seeing ghosts (and faries?) gaining a perk tree on EP while dear aliens and mermaids didn't got one.
