We need better Trans representation & options in The Sims 4.

Hello TheSimsDirect Maxis 👋

I would like to thank you for all of the additions we've had in The Sims 4 over the years to get closer to better Trans representation in the game, be able to pick and choose pronouns has been a welcome addition (however sadly the pronoun update is still only available for the English version), being able to use masculine clothes and feminine on either frame was also a much welcome addition.

However I feel as though you have a long way to go in regards to making the representation even better with additional things you could allow us as players to do -

  • First is the lack of attention that a lot of the clothing assets in The Sims 4 is given, what I mean by this is that so many of the assets added into the game only have either a masc version or a feminine version. (Take for example the most recent Coach RePurprosed Capsule Collection, all of the tops in that do not have a dedicated feminine version and you can see this clearly since there is no shading/shadows where a females chest should be.) I believe that a huge quality of life update is needed to update all assets to include both a feminine version and a masculine version.
  • Second and probably the most tricky thing to do is players should be able to toggle the feminine frames chest on/off. You see when selecting a Feminine frame on a Masculine Sim it does not add on a Feminine frame chest. (Which is what you would expect it to do) & the same applies vice versa. When on a Feminine framed Sim you select the Masculine framed option, it does not completely remove the Feminine framed chest.

I believe that as part of a quality of life update, The Sims team should focus on some extensive work on Sims' body frames. (Perhaps if it's difficult to change the current frames then maybe add in a 3rd customisable frame in the More Details section of CAS.)

It would be very helpful for better Trans Representation if we could have more customisation over being able to add/remove the feminine chest to be able to better reflect the stages of a Trans person's journey.

Furthermore, the tagging system for many clothing/items and accessories needs to be looked into as there are so many things that do not show up for the opposite Sim frames.

A prime example of this happens to be the Eyelashes Maker Pack that for whatever reason is strictly feminine only and cannot be used on any masculine frame.

Finally I would like to add that I do believe that The Sims team should reach out to Trans Simmers in the community and work with them to better understand exactly what it is that Trans people would like to see in the game.

Thank you for taking the time to read 😊
