Adding Retail Lots to the Gallery...just a question or three...

So I may consider myself to be an insufferable know it all 🤓 after playing The Sims since version 1, but I'm a total novice at adding content to the Gallery. 🤔 I've avoided it till now because of sheer terror at the sight of a comments section combined with the mortification at the screen name given to me by my old Xbox. But after kind support from fellow players I've finally gone for it!

I've added some residential lots and rooms so far, but one of my obsessions is retail lots selling crafted and collected items. But what I wanted to know is will all items carry over when I save a retail lot to the gallery so that if anyone downloads it they will be able to use them without any problems?

Items such as:

Sulani/Jungle Collectables

Rare crystals

Snow Globes

Knitted toys

Flower arrangements

Paintings/wood carvings

Fabricated furniture

Candles

Remedies both hand made and purchased in the jungle.

I know that jungle antidotes purchased on the computer and mounted fish can't be sold and I know that harvestables carry over from Gallery lots. I also remember that telescope and observatory prints aren't a problem. I suspect that paintings will be okay but I'm not sure about the rest, especially the Herbal remedies.

I can't download one from the gallery to check out what works because I have a technical problem that means I can only upload to the gallery but I can't yet download other lots (I get an error code). So that's why I'm asking rather than downloading another retail lot myself to investigate.

Any advice would be awesome!

  • @simsplayer818I believe they will. Considering food stays I think it will be fine. As they are in buy debug mode so they stay and work fine.

  • @simsplayer818    I agree with @gooochyeee that everything should carry over just fine.  However, I know for sure that flower arrangements will glitch when downloaded / placed in a new save.  I have a retail lot on the Gallery with flower arrangements and paintings and have tried it many times.  The good news is that the flower arrangements do sell but they don't look like they're supposed to.  When I've placed the lot, I noticed they all look the same; pretty much just the vase with some stems sticking out.  It's rather annoying.  :-(

@JonaO703 Thanks for the tip! I'm doing my flower shops in a couple of weeks time as I'm rebuilding the game I deleted. So I'll maybe leave them out. I also use copypasto to stock them and I know that causes an issue with restocking where you get an ash pile instead. I have a florist who sets one store up, then a Wiccan Spellcaster who copies the arrangements all to help fill the shops up. I have to keep going into build mode to delete the ash piles.
I'm working on my Cavern gift shop right now which is collectables in an underground cave style Sulani gift shop.
I'll have to try and take a look at your builds too! It's only showing me Xbox contributions right now for some reason but I'll figure it out.

@simsplayer818    That's a great idea using copypasto.  It would certainly help with lowering those restocking fees.  :-)

Here is a link to my Floral and Art retail shop if you're curious.

This is an "update" to the original lot, which I shared without any arrangements.  For the update, I added an "employee restroom" in the break area and, after some testing revealed sims will buy the glitched arrangements, I decided to leave them so there is more to sell right away.  Apparently sims don't care how awful these arrangements look. haha

This is what the glitch looks like, in case you were wondering.  I just realized they don't keep the vases.  They all have the same vase which is not how I saved it.

@JonaO703Aww what a lovely shop! Yes I see what you mean about the flowers but somehow it still looks pretty because of the background.
I managed to have Cinnamon purchase 2 retail lots. HQ was Magnolia Promenade, that's where the Wiccan helped with copypasto as my Flower arranging skill was broken for a while. So my florist couldn't make new arrangements to stock the shop. She also had a smaller shop with a flat above it in Mt Komorebi (attached). Plus a big house in Brindleton Bay with a plant nursery, phew. I've got all that work to do again in my rebuilt game.
I also get my scientist Sim to leave cloning machines in a few empty retail lots for future store owners to make copies for stocking their stores as it works great for jungle treasures. My Wiccan set up her own little shop in Strangerville with a few of the flower arrangements she copied for Cinnamon plus a lot of things like gold frogs and Hearts of Sulani and she even copied a load of her CoL preserves and knitted toys. That worked well for the rarer colours of knitted toys considered "poor" because they are actually nice colours but tend to be one offs.
