Auto aging and household expansion glitches

I've noticed since installing Life and Death EP, that despite having setting turned off for unplayed households and NPCs, that they are still expanding households and attempting to age up.  I removed all mods I've had and still have the issue.  I've tried a few times to reset the options to no avail.  It's making it hard to do a legacy game because I have to keep resetting their ages.  Are there any suggestions about how to fix this?  Thank you all.

  • punkinkarr Have you turned Neighborhood Stories off in both tabs of Manage Households?  That should stop the households from expanding by having/adopting children and pets.  The aging switches are working correctly for me.  I've never had an issue with aging not working.  I only allow aging for the active household, so my other played households and NPCs don't age.  If they don't appear to be working after installing any pack, one thing you can try is toggling them off and on.  Sometimes, when something gets added to the game it will cause some of the switches to "lose" their setting even though they appear to be in the position you set them.

One thing you can do to make sure your game settings are working is to create a new user folder (The Sims 4) by renaming your current folder to something else, then start the game and a new game.  Once you get through making and placing the mandatory sim, stay on the lot, then open Game Options and set everything to what you want them to be.  Once you've changed the settings, either do a save as folded by quit or save and quit.  Then copy your mods and saves folder from the old user folder to the new one.

Start the game and load the save.  When you get back on the lot, go through your mod settings for all mods you have and make sure those are set correctly.  Tbh, your issue sounds more like what a mod will do and just because you remove a mod, that won't automatically stop some of the things you used the mod to change as some mods add data to the save file.  So, you should take a good look at all your mod settings if they have settings and adjust them to stop things that you don't want to happen in your game.

    Hope this helps.

  • Unfortunately, I've already tried this.  Thank you though.
