Birthmarks and skin details

I am having a problem where I have never had a baby in the sims born with a birth mark or skin details like freckles. I'm seeing that people do get these on their babies. I do have a couple of mods, but even when I uninstall them, the problem remains. Any ideas?

    Unless something has changed recently, I don't remember the vanilla game ever passing those features on from parents to children, or randomly assigning them at birth. There is an option in the MC Control Center (MCCC) mod that allows for certain facial details to be inherited from parents.
