Solved

blank cooking menu

I recently started having a problem with cooking in my newest household/save file. I played it the other day for several hours with no issues, but this time when I booted up the game (no new mods or cc since last time played), I noticed my sim was unable to cook. The "cook" option is available on the stove, but the menu is entirely blank (not from missing required ingredients, there are no meals available: see photo). In addition, despite having made a few meals previously, the cooking skill is not listed in my sim's skill list and I am unable to override that particular skill level (I can easily override other skills, but not cooking, as if it doesn't exist). I watched other sims cook, but I am unable to see any meals available from any stove or fridge.

When I loaded in a different household save, I was able to cook with no issues so it seems it isn't a mod issue?

I tried some in-game fixes like selling the stove/buying a new one, checking for "simple living" settings, etc., then restarted the game, and nothing changed. I moved all of my mods and relaunched and I am still having the issue. I deleted the localthumbcache.pkg and repaired the game through the EA library, and still no change.

Has anyone else had this problem? Please tell me I don't have to start over with this household ☹️

  • I eventually solved my issue, I narrowed it down to a problem with my one specific sim. For anyone who may be having the same issue, I added a new sim to my household, made it exactly the same as my original sim, and deleted the old one. New one works perfectly fine, I just manually overrode the skills and relationships. A lot of annoying repetitive tasks just to be able to have a functioning sim, but that was the only solution that worked.
