Blast from the Past - Repair or Replace Computer

Blast from the Past event:

Repair or replace computer - Went to the library, computer broke.  Saved and closed the game as I couldn't finish at the time.  Went back in, was still in the library, but the computer was fixed.  Game will not allow me to alter any computers, outside or in home, and now I can't continue the task.  Please help.

I can't even message EA to ask for direct help.
