Builds refuse to save just in the game no gallery

Hi, so for the past week I've been spending hours and hours making different builds and every time I save the game and try to go load the lot later on, none of my progress has saved. I have 3 builds I spent the better part of 6 hours working on and now I can't load the lot or when it does load it loads the previous, unchanged version of the lot. I'm very frustrated as building is my favorite part of the sims and I take a lot of time and pride to make my builds. I feel devasted that I may have to start all over.

I tried to repair the game, I tried to recover different save files, I have deleted a lot of different script mods and still nothing is helping. I'm starting to lose hope and starting to feel discouraged to play the sims 4. It's nice that they update the game and make new dlc but what does that matter if they're just going to neglect the main mechanisms of the game? Genuinely couldn't care less about having fairies in game if it means I legitimately cannot play my game normally.

If anyone in the community has any other suggestions, they are more than welcome. I am becoming a bit desperate to fix this. If anyone working for EA or Maxis can help or fix this that would be great. I don't want to be driven away from this game due to bugs that are being neglected. I love this game and want to continue to enjoy playing it.

  • Try the following

    - Close the game
    - Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    - Repair the game
    - Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
    - Start a new save game
    - Check if you still have the error
    - Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

Hey crinrict, I started a new game file and loaded a new game and the error was no longer there. How do i go about adding my saves back in without corrupting the game again?

    Hi deathofadecoy

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
    - usersettings(.ini)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.
