Businesses & Hobbies Frustrations

Hi Sims 4 fans! I was super excited for businesses and hobbies but so far the UI has felt pretty limiting to me. I studied sustainability and urban planning that I incorporate in my builds a lot and mixed use spaces are really important.

I got this pack mostly to make apartments and townhouses with first floor retail but the pack seems to not allow residential rentals and retail on the same lot (a real shame after spending ages building one). After a lot of research I figured out how to sort of do this with LittleMsSam's Live in Business mod but its pretty frustrating spending the money on the pack for the small business when I need a mod I could've gotten instead to use it how I want. Does anyone know any work around for this? If not for any developers checking on this I would love for this to be fixed.

Additionally, now that I've had to give up on the rental stuff a bit, I renovated the Henford On Bagley bar to be owned and run by one family who lives upstairs. Once again I spent a lot of time on this only to finally play it and none of the customers order any bar drinks and just mess around in there making me once again consider just using the mod. Has anyone found a fix for this? I just want to do a simple classic pub with no entrance fee.
