Can you uninstall and reinstall multiple times?

Hi everyone. I have been uninstalling Get Famous when I'm not using it because it makes my computer lag badly but now Origin won't let me reinstall it. I have done this multiple times without a problem until now. Is there a limit on reinstalls? I am the registered owner and am using the same account every time. Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

  • @heihei4  You don't need to redeem the code multiple times—it'll already be on your account.  Try clearing Origin's cache:

Restart your computer, and repair the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Then click More > Expansion Packs, scroll to Get Famous, and see whether you can download it.  If it says it's already installed, check in-game again, and let me know if the content is there.

If Origin is telling you to buy the pack again, then you'll need to contact EA customer support to find out what happened.  Again, uninstalling should have absolutely no effect on your ownership of the content.  But things happen with acccount details and codes.  A support rep can take a look at your account to confirm that your code is still valid.  Right now, phone calls are unavailable, but live chat is open from 9 am to midnight UTC.

In the future, it's probably easier to disable the pack in Origin when you don't want to use it.  This doesn't uninstall anything, it just tells Origin to launch without the pack active.

  • @heihei4  Nope, there's no limit on installs, or reinstalls.  Your account owns your content, not your computer(s), and you have the right to install it s much as you want.

Hey, thanks for your reply. That's great to know. Origin says I have already redeemed this code and that it is installed but when I go to create a family the stuff you get from the expansion pack isn't there and it says I don't have this content ☹️

Thanks for that! It worked!!! I can now access the Get Famous stuff. In future I will disable the pack as suggested.
