Can't bake cakes off the grid?

which oven are you using ? Do you have any other lot traits/challanges active ?

You cannot make a cake off the grid. I would recommend setting up/using a “public kitchen” on a public lot somewhere - a park with a pavilion/lodge, or a club, or something similar.

When playing off the grid with off grid appliances, the only things you can make are the options in the “cook off the grid” menu, never the normal “cook” menu (unless you have eco lifestyle and are generating power).

The "food forge iron stove" paired with the "old king kool" fridge that came with cottage living. The only other lot challenges I have active are Simple Living, but I have all the ingredients needed for a cake both in my sim's inventory and in my fridge.

Do you have the off-the-grid cooking menu on those ? You can cook what's there.
