Can't intersect other objects

For the last few weeks/maybe a month I have had issues placing objects and keep getting a popup stating that I "can't intersect other objects", which I haven't seen previously. The only CC I use are CAS and I removed the folder from the game completely. I'm using move objects, no other mods. I play the sims 4 on a Lenovo Legion laptop. I have repaired the game from the EA app multiple times with no changes.

Screenshot example 1: I am trying to place the comfy gamer computer on the desk. The only things slotted to the desk are the comfy gamer headphones and controller. All other items "on" the desk were placed with move objects, they are not slotted to the desk. I can place a laptop on the desk and smaller desktop computers, but not the comfy gamer or high school years desktop computers. I have not had this issue in the past with these items. This example is in an apartment (City Living)  but it happens on any type of lot in any/every world.

Screenshot example 2: On this residential lot in Brindleton Bay, I can't place the lamp beside the other lamp. They are intersecting, but even this hasn't been an issue before. Previously, I would have no popup and would be able to place the items this way even though they are touching/intersecting.

Screenshot example 3: I have also had this issue with counters (screenshots from Willow Creek). If I try to put soap near the sink on the counter, it deletes the sink. On occasion, even if no item is slotted to a counter and everything is placed with move objects, it will not let me place a new item or will automatically delete the existing item if they are close to each other. Sometimes it will delete the counter. Sometimes, if I hit undo, the item or counter does not come back. Again, I hadn't had this issue until relatively recently. 

These issues are making the game unnecessarily hard/not fun to play and I often find myself just saving and exiting after these things happen multiple times in one building session. Is there a way to fix this so I can place things wherever like before?
