Can't load save game
I am writing to report a critical bug that is preventing me from playing The Sims 4 on PC. The issue is that the game cannot load any old or existing save files and fails to render or load lots when starting a new game or traveling.
Specific Details of the Issue:
- Unable to load any existing save games. The loading screen is either infinite or the game eventually crashes.
- I can start a New Game and enter Create-A-Sim (CAS) without any issues.
- The failure occurs when attempting to place a household onto a residential lot from CAS, or when a Sim tries to travel to any location:
- The game enters the lot/travel loading screen.
- Upon loading, the lot is completely invisible, unrendered, or the Sim is placed on a blank, white void.
- The game becomes unplayable as the world view is fundamentally broken.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
I have performed an extensive list of troubleshooting steps without success, which suggests a deeper issue within the game's core files:
- Game Repair: I used the repair function via the EA App multiple times.
- Complete Reinstallation: I completely uninstalled and reinstalled The Sims 4.
- Clean Installation (No Content): I even attempted a fresh installation without any Expansion Packs or additional content installed.
- Mods and CC Removal: I removed the entire "Mods" folder to rule out any conflicts with custom content.
- Cache Clearing and File Deletion: I manually deleted the cache files and the entire "The Sims 4" folder in Documents/Electronic Arts to ensure no corrupted save data or cache files were interfering.
- System Verification: My PC meets the minimum requirements, and my graphics drivers are up-to-date.
Despite all these steps, the bug persists.
