Child sim will not stay at school if I reload the lot when they're gone

I've actually been having this issue since the Life and Death update, where if my child Sim goes to school and for any reason if I quit the game, manage worlds, travel, or open CAS, the next time I load into the lot, the child is back home and the school day is marked as finished, they'll even have new homework to do.

Sure, who wouldn't want to come home from school after 2 hours and still have good grades? 😆 But still, I've been having this issue for these last few months and I cannot figure out what causes it other than the patch, because while my game is heavily modded, he was still staying in school from 8-3 even if I left the lot for any reason prior to the Life and Death update.

I even went ahead and tested this on a new save with townie Sims who have kids, and the results were the same. There's no way to send them back to school because the school day is marked as complete, and will say "Class starts in X hours".
