Has anyone tried to buy a breakable one, then break it (with a ghost for example or the tormentor trait - sabotage) and then repair again ?

I can confirm that this works. I too used an unbreakable computer which did not break. So I bought 3 of the cheapest computers available and had the whole family play games on them until one of them broke. Then I was able to repair the broken computer and progress in the quest.
