Disappearing Dog Trick

Several of us have had an issue with pets disappearing.  They aren't "lost"--the Sim isn't sad, can't report them as missing, etc.  Their icon has a white background and they cannot be called, although the option is available (it just doesn't work).  It seems like this issues correlates to the June updates.  

While I'm at it, several of us have also had the issue of pet bowls disappearing and needing to be replaced (for what it's worth, I've also lost a sofa).  They aren't in anyone's inventory.
