I've been having an issue where teen sims don't get the pop up to choose their traits when they age into Young Adults for several months now, and nothing I've tried has fixed it. I'm debating just uninstalling and reinstalling the whole game, but before I do that I'm just wondering if that's ever fixed glitches for others who've tried it? And also does it delete your game saves to uninstall the game or will they be there when you reinstall?
Maybe you should try a factory reset before uninstalling:

That's a known bug that EA needs to fix. Reinstalling won't fix that.
Save games usually stay unless you remove your user data. Always good to make a backup beforehand though.
If the save games stay does that mean the issue will probably stick around with it? I'm willing to try pretty much anything at this point but I would like to keep playing in this save. Also is there a tutorial to back up saves?
Does this just work for issues caused by mods and cc? I don't use either.
As said, it's a known bug, there's not much you can do. You might be able to just cheat a thrid trait but I'm unsure if it works.

It's hard to tell what will happen once they fixe the bug. I doubt that all the teens that miss their third trait get one so I would try to cheat-add them.
