I agree that elders don’t live long enough. People ask for elder gameplay and I want that… but only if we also get to actually keep elders around long enough to enjoy it! Plus I don’t like that they immediately are so fragile - it’s normal for grandparents to babysit their young grandchildren yet sims would have you believe that before those grandchildren are even born the grandparents are already in danger of dying from any exertion whatsoever.
I tend to move elders out of my household almost as soon as they reach elder, and keep aging to only the active household. That way they at least get to be around and visitable as grandparents even if I can’t play them.
I would also recommend that if you want the normal lifespan to be at all reasonable you should always turn off aging entirely for everyone while a sim is in university. Turn it back on after graduation.
That way your sims who have kids right out of university start a little younger to begin with and also don’t age during their kid’s university so they can at least see them graduate and get married. They still tend to be basically on their deathbed by the time there’s grandchildren though.
