Error There is a problem with your game's setup

I recently had a friend of mine help me build a new PC. After installing Windows and getting into the computer I tried to download Sims 4, but an error code keeps appearing. The code says, "There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game." I even downloaded my Sims 3 game, and that will not load up either. I've also tried to:

  • reinstall the game multiple times
  • repair the game
  • restart my PC
  • use revo uninstaller.

Could I have missed something when booting up my computer? Any help would be much appreciated, I really just really want to play some Sims 4.

  • auddball232  Sorry for the late-ish reply.  I only found your post just now and have moved it to the Sims 4 PC tech forum.  The issue with Sims 3 may have the same root cause.

At any rate, if you run an N version of Windows, please install the Media Feature Pack, as described here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/media-feature-pack-for-windows-n-8622b390-4ce6-43c9-9b42-549e5328e407

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
