Gallery

Library, as in saved to my comp ? That is the problem to begin with. Over the years many things I've saved to my comp got deleted if I had problems with my computer, which I do a lot. I guess it doesn't matter now, since I got so fed up I deleted any renos that has other peoples name as the original posters. People are so insecure that they can't even acknowledge that I always gave the original poster credit, as does EA. I've lost some beautiful renos, and it's heartbreaking. If I wanted fame, or was getting paid, I could understand the angst, but this is just childish people and insecure liars. So no way to get rid of followers either ?? I never asked to be followed, and although I don't care what anyone does with my renos, people and their malignant narcissism are just exhausting !

@CloeGreen  Perhaps get a cloud backup for your computer like Dropbox or iCloud, etc. Then you can just save to your library, and back up your tray folder and saves so if the computer crashes you don’t lose your game.

The gallery is not intended as a file backup. It is intended as a way to share your Sims creations with the community.

@PipMenaceThat's a great idea. I was just about to ask for advice about that as I've never had to do that myself.

@CloeGreen there are rules about behaviour like that as the link explains so do make sure that you hold them to account. It's intended to be a safe space for players. A player I have a lot of respect for was just talking about some awful incidents she'd had recently too and I was shocked. I'm sure this will be a priority for the powers that be as they are pretty clear on abusive behaviour. I don't want to see any players suffer abuse. Some companies are slow to act but I think EA do this better than most.

I didn't know the gallery was not there to help us save our creations. Huh, learn something new, and all that. Most of my best stuff is gone now anyway, and I deleted anyone I was following, so I may just delete the rest, and be done with it. Thank you both for answering.

No, I do have something else to say.  I've been a simmer for for over 10 years. I never yelled at anyone for using my work, and I never lied about my work. I may not be 'popular', like the people who call their stuff base game, to get followers under false pretenses, when their work is actually loaded with CC, but unlike them I was fair and honest. I have spent well over $1000 on my sims 4 and sims 3 content, and I think I have just as much of a right to use the gallery to SAVE my renos, as anyone else has the right to Share theirs. And lets be honest, they don't really want to share, they want to preen. If they wanted to share, they wouldn't be so worried about who renovated their work, they'd be proud that they were teaching their art. I asked for no fame, and made no money, and when I even thought about my work as sharing, I shared my renos to help people, and make them happy. I refuse to be made to feel like I shouldn't expect a little loyalty from EA in return. If the gallery wasn't made to save my renos, then maybe it should have been !  P.S. That rant was not directed at the people who tried to help me in this post. Thank you to all of you.

@CloeGreenThe Library already exists for that purpose and the Gallery is for sharing. But if you see the earlier advice from @PipMenace and maybe find a resolution for game storage that will help so you will be able to keep your content safe. You could even add another save game to place your builds in. You could have some lots just placed there as an extra backup in a fresh save so you don't lose them. It could be your own showcase save file maybe. 
If you report the offending players to EA I'm sure you'll get assistance for what has sadly been a really upsetting experience for you. Also if you click on each comment you can delete them individually or flag them as inappropriate. You'll see a cross and a little flag on each one.

@CloeGreen by a box you reno what do you mean? A room, a build? Just wondering. I know that people that are claiming a Sim they created is base game but you see in the description that you have to download the items.  I think of them as cc but their claim that they are base game is correct also. If you download those items it will not put a wench (that signifies cc) in the corner of the Sim upload. These are odd items in because when they are included in the game that are actually both cc but also base game.

I have made 3 Sims with those base game but also cc hair items and in the description I add the http save file location so it is easily downloaded if you wish the Sim to look the same. I don't claim it is a base game sim though.

As for the room box? or possibly room or house you have worked on then re-uploaded I am wondering if the original creator asked in the description to please not re-upload to the gallery. If they do I don't even consider renovating and re-uploading what ever their creation might be.(even a house shell)  It's not worth the hassle of being accused of being a thief. I have also asked creators if they would be okay with me decorating and uploading. Most say yes but some say no. Way easier to just build my own houses, sims, tips and other items.

I know EA rules don't give a dang what you do to others downloads but I find these steps keep me from having problems. HonorAmongSimmers, RespectCreatorsWishes and FairPlay are the hastags I use on everything I upload since EA decided in the summer of 2022 that our creations don't matter or what happens to them. Before that they were against thievery. Which would be out right just re-uploading without putting any work into the build, room or sim.

I have people upload some of my sims and builds and claimed them as their own. The description has not even changed and no work done. It's not Fair Play or Honorable.

Please don't think I'm giving you a hard time cause I'm not. I am just saying how I deal with these items. 

I suppose it was badly done sarcasm, the box comment, but it's frustrating, and can often be true. I would never have claimed others work. But you're correct. At first I wasn't trying to make anything someone else may like, I was just trying to learn and save the work in a safe place. Then I noticed some others also had the same problems I have building, and I was happy to be able to tear a house apart, to learn to make it simpler for use. I'm a better decorator than I am an architect, and some builds are beyond complicated. Worse, sometimes these builds/sims are a complete lie by the creators, and often buggy. I now know anyone can build and decorate a sims house, or a sim, with a little sharing of knowledge. There are some extremely talented sims builders/sims creators, and yes they should get credit for that, but I don't see that as a good reason to be so mean. I'm not a great talent, by any means, and I'm also not selfless, as you can see here. I'm obviously more sorry for myself, in this case, than anyone else. But I'm also not a seeker of fame or $ for the work of others. I don't feel I'm being unreasonable to want to save builds/sims for safe keeping on the gallery. I'm also not a tech-y person, but as far as I know, my library goes bye bye if my comp info does ? Therefore I'm more than a bit confused as to why that keeps being called my safe save place. As for cloud saves, a little context is needed I guess; I lost pictures of my passed parents using cloud save, and that was pretty much it for me with that. As for saving my game elsewhere, I'd have to buy another external/hard drive for that, and a big point for me, was not to do that. It doesn't matter if I can't afford to, or if I spend that $ on people that don't have much. It's a choice. If you think I sound cheap for not wanting to spend any more than I have to on games, you're not wrong. I buy my glasses at a dollar store, so I, and others can eat better food too. Cheap yes, but in a good way, IMO. Anyway, I just feel less lonely hearing that people do understand. Thank you all.
