I tried to split household and move. The game froze on the "Split household" screen. Alt+F4 allowed me to save and exit - big mistake! When I reopened the game the sim had disappeared from my household but doesn't exist anymore. Can't be found anywhere in "Manage households", but is also completely gone from the family members' relationship panels.
I don't use any mods or cc.
The issues continue. I recovered an older save so I could get my sim back. I managed to split her from the original household through "Manage households". I moved her into an empty lot and it worked. But when I click play on that new household the game crashes. I've tried it three times now, same problem everytime.

do you have the same issue on another save or just this one ?
Have you tried another family on the same save ? Make sure to keep backups when trying.
I tried on a new save and it was not a problem there. I uploaded the problematic family to the gallery and added them to a new save to see if that affected anything, but it didn't, so it seems to be an issue only in the original save. Repairing the game also didn't work.
Did you try another family in the same save ?
I did, and it worked! So it seems the household is corrupted.
Did you give them any custom careers or traits ?
