I think I have a similar bug but with the birthday parties : my game froze at midnight everytime I tried to go through the event and I couldn't save.

So I did test with and without mods but the same freeze kept happening.
Last night I decided to update my game and see what happens: I redid the birthday event and it didn't freeze this time when my sim blew up her candles! So I guess it was similar the wedding bug the update fixed.

I play with mods (MCC, ui cheats...) and on pc.
I haven't had the chance to try without MCC for example, some people suggested it.
It never happened to me before the last update
I also just move my saves to a new pc but I don't think that it's the issue here
Yeah, if the game freezes at midnight it could be the MCCC auto-marriages freez.
Please do test without.
