Game Opens but Sims Unresponsive

Hi, 

I can open my game but my sim is unresponsive, I cannot even click on that sim or any other sims because there are no options available (only their names appear). However, I can still use controls such as pause, look at inventory and so on. I have tried to go out of that household and although it lets me go to manage worlds, once I try to select another household to play it simply takes me back to manage worlds. The sims are all just stuck even after trying the resetsim options as well and uninstalling and reinstalling the game; does anyone have a solution? Thanks.
