Game Won't Load

Hi friends! Since I updated my game this afternoon, my Sims 4 will not load properly. I took out my Mod and Saves folders before updating and I tried loading the game to play with the update and it keeps saying that the application is not responding. I've tried restarting my computer and deleting any other clutter on my computer in case it's an issue on that end with no success. I've tried repairing my game, but that didn't work either. I loaded TS3 just fine, but TS4 is unable to load. Any other tips I'm missing?

  • @EverybodysPalAl  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS.

  • That worked!! So is there a certain way that I need to add my save files back in?

@EverybodysPalAl  Nope, you can just move them back, along with the contents of Tray, plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those.  The UserSetting.ini file holds login rewards.  Everything else can be discarded.

As I'm sure you know, many mods are broken right now, so updating yours will probably be something of a project.
