"For this first iteration of the feature we focused on pronouns. While pronouns are a very important piece when it comes to greater inclusivity for The Sims 4, we understand that customizable pronouns will not make the game 100-percent gender neutral. You will still see instances of gendered language in the game such as mother, father, policeman, policewoman, etc."
I'm a french simmer but as I speak english, I watch videos and content about the Sims 4 in english, and I got to say that I am really sad that we don't have any news about pronouns being added to non-english versions of the game...
At the beginning, I understood the argument that linguistic is a difficult subject and that the sims team has to do research in every single languages available in game etc, etc... But at the end of the day, why not give all the players around the world the "custom pronouns" window that english speaker simmers have ? If the sims team wants to find an equivalent to "they/them" in every languages I understand that it is taking a very long time. But if the english speaking players have the opportunity to type their pronouns themselves, why not give the rest of the player base the opportunity to type their own pronouns as well ? ☹️ (For example, in french "they/them" is very often translated to "iel", so why not give french simmers the custom pronouns window so they can type "iel" and "ellui" etc themselves ?)
Queer people around the world want to be represented as well !
Once again, I know that linguistic is a difficult topic (it happens to be my what I am studying in college haha !) and I am just suprised that the rest of the world doesn't have at least the "custom pronouns" window where people can type their pronouns themselves... 😕
I am also sad that we don't have any news and/or updates on that subject... ☹️
@Lalo_Reley Exactly what i think playing the game in brazillian portuguese where the neutral pronouns are usually elu(s)/delu(s) and ile(s)/dile(s), the "s" are for plural. I know they may struggle with the adjectives and nouns that have proper version for male and female gender which is usually just adding "a" or changing "o" for "a" to go fom masculine to feminine. They could just add the feminine versions with "x" instead of "a" in the last syllable.
@thornwill yeah ☹️ at the very very least I wish they would let us know what’s going on and at what stage they are in the translations… Because having dropped it for the english version and never ever giving any updates on the evolution of other translations gives the feeling that they forgot about us and that we do not matter as much as the english-speaking playerbase :/
In my current family I have a trans MTF sim called Annie. I chose the she/her pronoun set for Annie and the feminine body frame, but chose to keep the gender marker as male because of my periods mod. I noticed that although the game uses she/her for Annie, when looking at her relationships she is named as her mothers' "son" and her sister's "brother." It would be really brilliant if the game added some way to change this? Perhaps a drop down menu that allows you to choose between "brother," "sister," or sibling?" Same with mother, father, parent etc. It seems like a large oversight in the pronouns update that could do with some work.
Hi, my Sims and I use They/Them pronouns, and they are in the bodybuilder career.
The 10th promotion in this career uses Ms or Mr, depending on the Sim's pronouns, for the title of the job role.
To make more users comfortable, including myself, I believe this should read 'Mx Solar System' - rather than Ms or Mr, when pronouns are neutral or manually input.
I have attached a screenshot relating to this issue - thank you for your time. 🙂
Hi again, found an instance of pronouns being fully disregarded -
in CAS when creating my partner I went to change Household Member to Partner or something neutral due to my sim's pronouns being they/them, however the only relationship titles available are feminine (some examples could be sibling, partner, spouse etc) - i doubt this counts as the pronouns being applied incorrectly/ineffectively but still would be great to see more inclusion in places that would make some users like me feel uncomfortable
I mean, its been TWO YEARS since they posted this in brazilian portuguese: Pronomes Personalizáveis Disponíveis no The Sims™ 4 (ea.com). The eternal waiting is killing me, once we don't even have mods for pronouns. As a nonbinary person, i really really hate my sims being called "wrong" every single time just 'cause we still don't have this option. I'm not a fluent english speaker, i'm using the translator right now.
We have like, 15 confirmed contents for this year, and nothing about pronouns for the rest of the world? We're in pride month, I thought we would have it by now, but nothing, not even a little announcement
Where are they not being applied? In the popup of another sim asking my sim to be their partner, it says "girlfriend" (because my sim's sex is female) but I want it to say "partner."
